Running. Before or after lifting for that extra fat burn? I often run a mile for a warm up, lift, then run for 25 minutes of HIIT. A guy at the gym suggested a 5 min warm up, lift then 40min of HIIT in a row as opposed to my warm up mile.
I tried his suggestion and while the cardio was difficult I felt that the lifting wasn't as difficult as it normally was.
which is better? I google and get mixed results.

Lift first, do cardio either at another time during the day or after lifting. You want to use your energy when it matters (lifting). You can do a warm up for a few minutes with cardio if you want to get your heart rate up prior to lifting if you want.
