That episode was just Carl bitching and Michonne having some weird dreams.
The shows alright but not as good as people make it out to be.

I don't think you understood the subject matter then. The whole plot was contained in the dreams and Carl's personality.

It's the transformation and self-realization of his character that was beautiful.

Didn't that already happen like a season or so ago? I think it was more of Rick realizing Carl is grown up and doesn't need Rick. And that Rick can't do much anyway.

Yes, because only one character can devolop at once. Even what Carl wrote in chalk on the door was monumental.
