Is that armor Mark V?
And if so, didn't they eventually bring it back with their "Champion Bundle" or something?

That's Mark IV, before shields where put in the armour with the Mark V (However for gameplay reasons they have shields in Halo Wars).
-
It was only aesthetic. The actual MK-IV is the one seen in FuD or Halo Legends: The Package
-
I think he means that the style of the armor sucks. Personally I think Halo 4's spartan armor looks like they are wearing an armored banana hammock.
-
Cannot unsee.
-
I don't know what it was those 343i guys must've been smoking when they designed some of the armor in Halo 4. They're so -blam!-ing ugly and impractical.
-
I have the concept art book. The drawings for a lot of the armour look very nice, but turned out horrible in modelling.
-
Well, Liquid Developement modeled all the multiplayer armor.
-
Modeled =/=designed. 343 designed it, LD just did the rest
-
Maybe, depends on who drew up the concept art. Either way I personally don't have a problem with the way it looks. Some of the armor is a bit ridiculous though.
-
Oh I agree, I like a good chunk of it.
-
Oh ok. Didn't know that.
-
It's Mark IV

Edited by Cypher Alpha: 2/2/2014 10:11:47 AMOh...? I don't think Mark IV has been featured in any Halo game's armor customization, has it? I only remember the Mark V and VI helmets in armor customization. EDIT: Oh wait. That's what the OP is saying.
-
Jorge's helmet was a retro-fitted Mk IV helmet IIRC.
-
Well the way it's shown in Halo Wars is weird, since they have shields in game, but going by canon, Mark V was the first to have shields. Mark V is basically Mark IV with shields, so it's a little confusing with what happens in Halo Wars.
-
Edited by Cypher Alpha: 2/2/2014 10:18:16 AMIs Halo Wars even canon? I heard that it wasn't developed by Bungie. Since it's a prequel, they can't just create canon like 343i is doing.
-
It wasn't developed by Bungie, no. It was made by Ensemble Studios. As for it being canon, I'm pretty sure Halo Wars is, mishaps like that I think are due to different developers. And in the case of the shields, I believe it was a case of gameplay fun factor over canon;
We needed to realize where the canon was flexible in order to squeeze in the things we needed. And, in a few cases, we decided to go against canon to make a better game/experience (e.g. the Spartan’s shield and sound). I don’t know how we would have made those calls without tons of research, chats with Bungie, etc.
-
Mate it's canon and they put shields in for gameplay reasons and that is all, so everybody can over look that little part and call that non canon,
-
Isn't that what I just said?
-
Ah, I see.
