Tennant was awesome, but so was Smith. The thing about Tennant is most of the writing for him was excellent with just a few exceptions (I'm looking at you Planet of the Dead), but for Matt Smith I feel only season Five truly did him justice. Six opened up so great with the introduction of the silence, but it all went downhill from there. Seven for the most part got it right, but I feel like most of the stories were severely compressed. Like most of them should have been two parters, but they were made into just one episode. For example Nightmare in Silver was written as a two parter but it got pushed into one.
