I've pretty much given up all hope for Microsoft.
Everything they've done has been a debt-accumulating disaster. Windows 8 is receiving Vista-like negativity. Windows Phone is a sub-par attempt at competing in the smart phone market, which more likely than not cost them more than they've earned. Xbox One's reputation was completely destroyed after DRM-gate. Finally, one closer to me, they haven't handled the Halo franchise quite well at all.
You may disagree with some of these, but there are quite a number of individuals who say otherwise.

Windows phone blows any other mobile OS out of the water. This is from a previous Android and current Apple user. The only thing it lacks are apps. It's current market share is the fastest growing in the mobile realm. Growth = good. Plateau = bad.

That's your opinion, and I know of others who can agree. However, the userbase for Android and iPhone is significantly larger; and in my opinion, there isn't much going for Windows Phone other than some mediocre exclusivity for things like apps and games and Windows integration.

I've tried it and I really don't like Windows Phone, but that's the beauty of diversity. I wouldn't mind if they gained some traction. The more competition, the better.
