It happens in all aspects of advertising. It's called an endorsement. Kenton James makes millions off of endorsements. What's the problem.

For one you can find out who he sponsors/is sponsored by (couldn't really drop your reply) while MS' & Machinma's deal was that they had to be quite about them being paid-even doing the ad deal-at all.
-
I still don't see an issue. If you sell your name for a price that is your prerogative. If you had something negative to say then don't be bought and man up and say it. Simple really.
-
Don't believe Machinima people can say anything against them because of their contract.
-
If this is making Machinima a pile of cash, I don't honestly think they'd speak out against it even without a contract. You don't seem to understand corporate-level business very well...
-
Highly likely. And I see it more as what a consumer would see it as...mainly see it as bad publicity here.

Your opinion does not equal the satisfaction/dissatisfaction of the mass market. Apparently people are accepting and eating it up, because they're seeing enough return from it to keep forking out piles of cash. Just an observation. P.S. Machinima would be bankrupt and defunct if they didn't enjoy deals like this. It makes them successful as a business, and it mass-marketing at it's finest. Despite what you may think from atop that Ivory Tower of Morality, Machinima would not turn this down, nor would they speak against it (again, even if the contract were not there) if it advertises their product and brings them more revenue. Business 101.

Boy this Ivory To-wait...if it's for morality why is it ivory? And I agree with that last segment/paragraph.
