So, what you're really saying is... you're pissed that Sony didn't think of it first? It's a viable marketing strategy. Much worse has been done in the name of marketing. This isn't even a blip on the radar. Besides, your anger is misplaced. Don't be pissed at Microsoft for trying to pimp their product, any company would do it if they thought it would work. You should really be pissed at the YouTuber's who've "sold out". Get your priorities straight.

No Sony would have been still as stupid to do that. Yes stuff like this has been done but this is really recent in the (gaming) news. And come on they have to buy people to promote their console that should be already good in sales as they say.
would do it if they thought it would work
<-And didn't they go with always online/DRM & forced Kinect. And of course the ones who did it are mostly already sell outs. No ideas how my priorities "aren't straight" this is news that wouldn't be here at all since this is mostly MS based. And inb4 I'm a Sony fanboy, I do have an Xbox360 and like it.

  • No, you're not a "fanboy", but you fail to remember that all of the DRM tech derives from DRM tech that Sony originally developed, patented, and pushed to be placed in all their devices. Besides, just like MS, Sony hasn't given up on the DRM idea for their console either. And just because a company is already doing great in sales of their products doesn't mean that they want to stop there. No corporation will hit a certain sales mark (or exceed it) and say: "Ok, that's good enough.". No, corporations (all corporations) exist for the sole purpose of making money for their shareholders. MS, Sony, Apple, Facebook, etc., etc. If they stopped once they hit a certain sales mark, the revenue would lag to almost nothing and the Board of Directors would be voted out by the shareholders faster than you can "hit 'X' to kill the Didact". The fact that MS is utilizing this is just smart business. Do you honestly think that any corporation survives by following a core set of morals? Sure they post them as part of their "Company Values", but morals don't pay the shareholders. And that goes for every corporation; Sony, MS, Apple, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Besides, there is nothing immoral about this. The point is, Microsoft didn't even think of it first. Many companies have done this since the inception of YouTube (which is how you have some VidBloggers doing it for a living), and it was only a matter of time before it migrated into the video game industry. That time is apparently here. But yes, priorities. By that I don't mean to offend; I simply mean that instead of naming Microsoft as the Anti-Christ of the day, if the practice makes you a bit angry or disgusted, aim that at the people who're fueling this. The YouTuber's who're accepting Microsoft's cash. They'e the ones who've "betrayed" the lolPurity of YouTube.

  • Its funny but your one of the few, very few on this forum who has a brain. IM going to take a stab in the dark and say you are probably older and much wiser than most on this forum. I applaud you for being a voice of reason in a sea of blabering children.

  • ...liked that "hold x" part. Don't mean to have them seem like the "anti Christ" just posted since it does have to do with gaming...probably am biased aha isn't Machinima as well. Yeah other companies have done it before, just that evidence came up and recent blablabla butts.
