How does someone "impersonate themselves"? If they have the original (oldest and primary) account, then that is what they should be using. Any other account that is mimicking that "first to use" username/avatar combination IS "impersonating" the original. Even if they claim to be the same person.
-
Oh, so is that why that Greene impersonator switched from Greene to A1223344?
-
I don't know why people do what they do. But if a member changes their username away from that of another member? Then they aren't impersonating (any longer).
-
I had assumed you guys were banning all impersonators and for some reason it made logical sense to me that you changed the names of them as well.
-
Ah so it WAS you, well Why is Elegiac and Camnator still running around? :/
-
Just out of curiosity, and in case your examples were an issue, I just did a little research. The username Camnator has some 60+ examples, all of which are either banned or inactive. The username Elegiac had 2 examples, the "original" is not banned, the other is. So, I am not sure that I understand your point. I'm not being deliberately dense, but it appears to me that (in those two cases as well as many others) impersonating accounts are being dealt with as they arise.
-
Fine then, good job.
-
What "WAS me"? I am afraid that I am not following you. As to those other members? I've not personally seen any reports of impersonation, which would then cause me to investigate the username, identify the "original account" and then deal with the one(s) that are clearly impersonating that original account. That's the problem with alts and renaming them to match previous accounts. The person at their computer can know "I am the original and I am just renaming this new account to match my original name". THEY can know who they are. But no one else can. Not with any reliability or certainty. Which is why if someone's "real" account is banned, renaming an alt is no different than someone else renaming an account to impersonate. Kind of like the Highlander. There can be only one.

They should make it more clear in the code of conduct.
They should make it more clear in the code of conduct.
Every time someone uses that phrase, we'll invoke the notion of common sense? Ain't got it? Enjoy your Ninja Justice.

But thats very impolite and negative for a community manager

Is there a code of conduct you and your Ninjas follow? Not being funny Deej but I read this whole thread and I felt you and Recon were quite aggressive towards that guy. That's not really Ninja Justice is it? You have some really good Ninjas, moderators and mentors. Some times some of you I feel that you and some of your team come across as quite arrogant. Why do you not make Wumbo and Triplesack Ninjas, they know how to be polite and courteous to users. Also send Shacker some loot, that guy works his arse off for you guys, I know they do not get paid. I know I will probably be banned for saying this but there you go. Happy New Year! Resolution: Please be more polite.

You implying I lack common sense?
