Gender is just a social construct, arguably so is sex but it is rooted in biology.

Well.. yea a man has a penis and a woman has a vagina, among other differences, thats hardly something socially constructed. Transgender often is a change of sex though, as in sexual organs

Edited by Charlemagne: 1/4/2014 2:09:06 AMThe word male and female (as well as boy, girl, guy, etc.) are just words to identify people who are slightly different from one another because society tells them to act one way or another. It's a social construct. Yes, biologically we are different, but that doesn't really make us that different at all. Edit: I'm talking about the words and titles, not really the biology. It's more of a question of "Why am I called male? Why aren't I called something else?"
arguably so is sex
As in labeling a distinction between the sexes, or something like that?

Correct. We just decided that being one sex makes you one thing and being the other makes you something else. We identify by sexes/genders rather than people/Humans.
