Master Chief's armor is better.
Shepard doesn't have the ability to lock his armor.
Shepard doesn't have the ability to lock his armor.
Which is actually a terrible function, because locking the body rigid would just increase the likelihood of getting injured.
-
-
It would. If the body is 'loose' when it hits the ground, there's less chance of broken bones and harm to the organs. Think of it like a rubber ball hitting a wall rather than a stick. The stick snaps on impact; the ball just bounces off. Not that this means bones will not be broken, period, just that it's less likely.
-
It wouldn't. The gel takes the hit. Along with the fact that it could be locked and unlocked at any moment. It's a great ability and comes in handy even in fights as seen in The Fall of Reach.
-
For a normal body yes. But for a super solider with amazing armor not really.
-
The blunt force trauma could still rock his brain in his skull or cause internal bleeding. Odds are, even if no actual damage happened to his outer body, he'd still be dead from a multitude of factors that powered armor, indestructible bones, and superdense muscle won't help with.
-
The gel layer in the armor is designed to take impacts like that, also, he's super lucky, how do you think he's lived this long
-
The gel layer was meant to fall two kilometers? I somehow doubt that, considering he barely survived and needed a piece of forerunner magicmetal to do it.
-
1) he would have benn moving at around 120 km/80mph, normal people survive crashing/falling at those speeds all the time 2) He's an augmented supersoldier, so those speeds would have probably only winded him 3) these previous 2, coupled with gel layer protection and being armor locked in a air resistant shape = alive Chief. It ain't about the 2km fall, that's just a distance. His velocity is what counts, and terminal velocity is around 120 kms when he lands, because he would have flared before landing, which would slow him down
1) he would have benn moving at around 120 km/80mph, normal people survive crashing/falling at those speeds all the time
Normal people such as?
2) He's an augmented supersoldier, so those speeds would have probably only winded him
Uh, no, the medics doubted he'd survived, and he was knocked out for at least a few hours if not days.
3) these previous 2, coupled with gel layer protection and being armor locked in a air resistant shape
Still just barely kept him alive.
It ain't about the 2km fall, that's just a distance. His velocity is what counts,
Very true.
and terminal velocity is around 120 kms when he lands, because he would have flared before landing, which would slow him down
And probably assisted in his survival. He still came with spitting distance of death, judging by the medic's reaction.

All rebuts valid, however he did just get up, make a sarcastic joke, then be keen sensed enough to spot a cloacked arbiter, even if he was moving he just woke up. I bet he was awake the whole time, just sitting there thinking trololololol XD
-
then be keen sensed enough to spot a cloacked arbiter
Thel de-cloaked before John saw him, actually. Still impressive that John could move so fast just after getting up, though.
-
He is one tough son of a bitch. I just hope they don't pussify him any more in halo 5.
-
Couldn't he jack up the pressure to stop his organs from rocking?
-
Meh, I'm not so sure.
-
I am.

I guess you're right, as it was made from titanium and ceramic. While Shepard's armor from Mass Effect 1 looked like it was literally made from foam floor matting.
