Assuming the console will even be good enough to compete (as your question indicates), then more competition is good for consumers... However no one here seems to realize that.
Look at youtube. No competition. It's now a monopoly.

YouTube is not a monopoly. If they were, numerous governments would be suing them to provide relief to the consumers. Other video sites are able to fairly compete in the market, therefore YouTube is not a monopoly. I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just sayin'...

It may not be a pure monopoly (100% share), but there is no doubt that it has monopoly power. Being a monopoly is not illegal. What is illegal is using that monopoly power unfairly to try to squelch your competitors or artificially raise prices.
