Personally, I am struggling with the notion of weapons and armor that will possibly make the playing field unequal. I wouldn't mind as much if it was simply a small percentage increase in accuracy or whatever; I play Battlefield and can grow accustomed to people playing with different weapons.
Then I read the GI article about how exotic weapons bring skills with them, like becoming invisible while being zoomed in with Closing Time (sniper). That is an absolute game changer! If I were to not read that and spend an entire match getting sniped without finding the guy, the competitive monster in me would scream indecent things towards the unjust situation at hand.
Halo Reach was like this at first, but I quickly came to love how armor abilities changed the way people fought. However, I only loved them once I became aware of them and could alter the way I fight. The key to success in a game like this is being able to adapt to your enemy and their loadout, which I have no problem doing. But with these exotic weapons, seeing as how they will likely add them over time, I foresee a constant frustration with weapons/armor that I do not understand, and therefore cannot win against.
Anyways, I'm not completely closed off to the idea, but I would like to hear other people's thoughts on the matter. Please convince me of how amazing this will be!!!
UPDATE: I just remembered reading something a while back that mentioned how Bungie wants to make this game accessible to all people, even if you can only play 20 minutes a week. I'm sure that this will be true of campaign, but if I only have time to play competitive, am I going to constantly be at a disadvantage because I don't spend time in story mode? Will my weapons/armor/skills never quite be enough to compete?

They also said that the game would reward you for killing players for doing well since you were in an underdog position. because of this I am actually exited for this somewhat unbalanced game play, reminds me of when I played world at war and the lvl 60 players were running around with flame throwers, I would get killed by them several times (which was somewhat frustrating) but the satisfaction of taking one of those players down made it worth it and now this game is also going to recognize me killing a better player and reward me for it. I am also a revenge killer so maybe this is more satisfying for me than it would be for others. The other reason I like this feature is "Borderlands Gun Love" syndrome. there is currently no other game that gets me as exited about new loot as borderlands because every once and a while you you find a gun that is particularly good and then you can really notice the difference. now i can get that same gun love for my weapons i destiny and bring it into multiplayer and really notice the difference when i try out the new gun i found. i like this alot better than COD or Battlefield (though I enjoy Both) where the weapons are all relatively similar and the game is constantly patched when some gun seems a little better than the others
