So quick bullet-point breakdown:
- Game-chat reserved to fireteam. XBL and PSN party-chat are used respectively in other circumstances.
- Competitive multiplayer is woven into the game. You can't bypass the actual game and jump directly into competitive multiplayer.
- To maximize progression/advancement you must participate in all modes. You can't grind competitive multiplayer.
- One character, across the entire game.
- Weapons and gear carry over.
- If necessary/needed Bungie can nerf weapons in competitive multiplayer on the fly.
- There's health and armor resistance. One depletes, then the other.
- Faster kill times than Halo.
Added, forgot to mention:
- Potential of up to 6-man teams mentioned in certain instances.
Corrected/fixed: fireteam and game-chat

Edited by Spawn: 12/10/2013 12:49:50 AM1st off, it is mentioned in the article that none of this is set in stone. It just shows their current line of thought, things can definitely change before beta. I know you like to post these sorts of things on the Destiny Reddit board, so I just wanted to emphasize that :-)
- No in-game chat. Chat is handled thru XBL and PSN.
As far as Destiny GAME chat, it does exist. The way I understand it is you only have voice chat with your fireteam, but your total team is up to the maximum size of the mode that you're playing in. For instance he referred to 6 players in X gamemode. But you can always override that with party chat through XBL or PSN.
- To maximized progression/advancement you must participate in all modes. You can't grind competitive multiplayer.
I got the same impression with this one. To have all the "best" tech trees, upgrades, armor/weapons, statistics, you should have a healthy balance of all major modes in Destiny. Pigging out on sweets all day can only do so much.
- There's health and armor resistance. One depletes, then the other.
Which also varies depending on class, level of character and level of characters against your opponents. It's all relative.
- If necessary/needed Bungie can nerf weapons in competitive multiplayer.
Bungie was always able to do this, but I think with Destiny it's more based on how "popular" a weapon is. There are some interesting theories floating about this one. I agree with your other points though.
