I'm getting so tired of this shit.
It's just an internet comment, a small string of 1's and 0's
It's not a string of 1's and 0's, it's a string of hateful words. Words have incredible power in our world, speak the right set of words to the right set of people and you can change the world for better or worse. This has been proven countless times throughout history. Millions of people access the internet everyday, who knows how many people saw and will see what he wrote and each of the people who saw what he wrote have a different opinion on what they see. There are people who I can't possibly understand why they think a certain way or why they see something a certain way. His words will affect each person a different way, and while I don't think he'll be starting a WW3 with his comment, his words will and probably have strongly affected someone for the worst.

Kill yourself shithead.
Now tell me, did those words have any impact on you? they're considered pretty bad, and yet you probably didn't bat an eye at them - that's the nature of the internet, you can say what you want because nobody has to care - some random person spweing shit means nothing at all and should not ever mean anything at all. You don't have a right to be offended, no-one does.

You don't have a right to be offended, no-one does.
That doesn't make any sense. What would make you think this a coherent point?

Edited by The Great DanTej: 12/10/2013 3:35:04 AMWhat do you mean it doesn't make any sense? You do not have a right to be offended, end of story. Hard to get more coherent than that. Actually i should clarify my point a bit more, with regards to the article, people seemed to think that because they were offended by some kid's comment, that somehow violates their rights and so the kid should be punished - but that's utterly absurd because no rights were violated.

Just because something should be doesn't mean it is, the truth is words do affect people regardless of whether or not they should ignore them. Also, due to the magic of the internet once you say something "offensive" it's out there for millions to see it, so people who will get affected by it will see it. Their reaction could be as simple as making a stupid retort or as extreme as going out and shooting up a crowd, the former is probably the most likely but I'm just making a point that people will react in different ways. Telling someone to ignore a comment doesn't work because they don't think like you do and that comment affected them completely different than it did you. I'm not saying we should start censoring everything we deem "offensive" I'm just pointing out the way things are.

I fully understand the way things are, it's just the difference between that and the way things should be, is a simple cup of "toughen up" - and the best thing is you don't have to think like me to end up with thick skin. Also, we don't hold people responsible for the actions of others.

Edited by Mr SexBot: 12/9/2013 9:33:09 AM
the difference between that and the way things should be, is a simple cup of "toughen up"
It's not nearly as cut and dry as that, most of the arguments stem from people's own personal opinions rather than how "tough" they are. Each person has their own beliefs that they're passionate about, and each person has their own opinions on what's acceptable to say and what's too far. This is what arguments stem from, it stems from people's opinions and people's beliefs on what's worth fighting for. Unfortunately "a cup of toughen up" isn't going to cut it, if you really want to stop it you're going to have to make everyone on the planet think exactly the same. Which many people have tried to do in the past and each time they've failed.

Could've sworn this whole situation and comment chain stemmed from people getting offended (which is laughable given how poorly worded and just plain dumb the original comment sounds)
It's 11 here and I need sleep, so if you don't get another reply there's your explanation
My original comment had nothing to do with people getting offended. As far as the quality goes I'm sorry it didn't quite live up to your standards, but it was the best I could throw together at the time.

Well then, this is mostly just a big misunderstanding.
I'm sorry it didn't quite live up to your standards, but it was the best I could throw together at the time.
I was talking about the comment in OP's imgur link, your ones are fine and I actually felt a little bad for giving such short replies to them.

Edited by Mr SexBot: 12/9/2013 11:48:48 PMAh, I see, it's no big deal. It's not the first time I've gotten into an argument on this site due to a misunderstanding and it probably won't be the last.
I actually felt a little bad for giving such short replies to them.
Lol, it's fine it was getting late over here and I was getting really tired so I don't know how long I could've held out if you gave long responses. Besides, I didn't put as much effort as I would've like into my posts either.
