I was thinking of putting together a PC, but all this sounds really complicated.
Is putting one together as difficult as this thread is making it seem?

I've never built one, this'll be my first build. I'm trying to make sure everything is safe and sound, so I'm going into minute detail over everything to make sure I don't waste money. Anyways, people tell me building a PC is like building a Lego set (which I've always loved) and newegg's tutorial actually makes it really easy to understand!

I'll have to check it out sometime. Like I said, I have absolutely no experience putting something like this together (even if it is like a Lego set). And all this technical talk confuses me to no end. Does Newegg have an Idiot's guide to it?

Mobo?

Motherboard. Essentially links all the different parts together. Sometimes contains a wireless adapter (enables your computer to connect to wifi)

Alright. That simplified a lot of things. But what exactly did he gloss over with the motherboard?

CPU chip compatibility, RAM compatibility, etc. It's a few minutes near the end when he mentions a lot of the important stuff (i.e. making sure your i5 chip that has a 1150 slot fits with your mobo that also must have a 1150 slot and intel chipset)
