While I agree that standards are falling, there are better examples of the consumer being shafted by a company. You picked the one developer who was up front about the issues, before players had the issues, and released the stim package and free DLC as well as taking responsibility.
But maybe we should be happy with a developer just saying they made mistakes? ( just as a quick example )

And I agreed, but I think that a company coming forward and telling people outright what the problems were and what to do and not to do, then making it up to the players with free content is far better than..."oops we botched the release of the first map pack, and gave it to a bunch of people for free, so let's come up with a 14 day trial pass, and take it away from the people we mistakenly gave it out to." Or "Hey you payed a full Blue Ray price for this film, but we don't want to pay the licencing fee for it anymore, so you don't get to access content you fully payed for, and we will not compensate you for your loss."
