By their logic, big building = important. Although, most "terrorists" are not trying to terrorize us, but are retaliating to our presence in the Middle East.
It's a vicious cycle.

Edited by Diplomat: 12/2/2013 5:17:08 AMThat's not entirely true. While our presence in the Middle East definitely acted as an accelerant for terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda, they are actually trying to establish a caliphate around the globe. Since that is negative for American political, economic, and security interests, we have done our best to prevent them from expanding their presence and established strategies to mitigate their impact. That's why we are a target. They're engaged in a war of attrition, hoping to get us to overreact to threats against the homeland instead of their overseas activities. So far, it's worked great. We've poured a trillion dollars into homeland security over the past decade, even though the threat to our domestic front isn't that big.
