If you can afford it then getting a powerful macbook pro will do the job and last a long time. However for pure grunt and power a PC laptop blows macbooks out of the water at a fraction of the price. You just need to work pout if a Mac is worth it. Buying a low end non retina i3 Mac with no graphics card is a complete waste of time so you should only consider a decent macbook pro. With that you get amazing build quality and the ease and joy of using osx. On the other hand you could just buy some beastly PC laptop that flies but is plasticky and probably have that annoying number pad.
