See, any points that could be considered 'good' are defeated by the title and the final 'score.' It's clearly a person fishing for attention, which discredits pretty much anything the person may have said. :/

  • isn't this quite sad, that when someone gives their honest opinion, and more importantly uses the X/10 system properly, they get called out for click-bating and are dismissed entirely. Oh, and the title is pretty clearly in response to all the reviews giving Infinite an undeserved 11/10- GAME OF ALL TIME FOREVER - I don't suppose you had a problem with those statements and how they fished for attention, did you?

  • It wasn't being used properly, and 'undeserved' is silly. And those statements did not have the problem because they weren't attention whoring.

  • On a scale where 5 is average, anything above that is good, and anything below that is bad - and Where Infinite is clearly a broken patchwork mess of game...how is this not using properly, or at the very least, how is this not better than game "journalists"? - more importantly what did Infinite do to deserve it's high marks? what makes it so much better than every other game? It's clearly not story, or gameplay, or music, or representation of black people, or religion, or women, character development, or... And how is "10/10 GOTY CITIZEN KANE OF GAMING WOULD CREAM MYSELF AGAIN" not attention whoring?
On a scale where 5 is average
Clearly this statement is incorrect. Especially for triple-A, big-budget titles, you wouldn't expect an average game (read: Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, etc.) to get a 5, since generally a 5 means the game is probably some shit-tier, A-for-effort Indie game.
It's clearly not story, or gameplay, or music, or representation of black people, or religion, or women, character development
Barring gameplay, those other traits were pretty outstanding in my opinion. I can't think of many other games that would dare to focus the story on a realistically religious theme, particularly one as well-researched as this one. And should the game really be knocked for how it portrayed black people, when it was obviously to make a caricature of the society? Sure you've got a hapless damsel with daddy issues that slowly loses clothing during the course of the game, but it was oddly tasteful. And I'll be damned if she didn't show a believable change in personality.

  •
Clearly this statement is incorrect.
And that's the problem - the current system is broken and almost entirely redundant.
Barring gameplay
Baring gameplay? this is a video GAME we're talking about, you bare gamerplay and you may as well admit we're talking about a movie, and Infinite is terrible by movie standards - but of course by gaming standards it 10/10game of every year, despite not being a game - you can't have it both ways. And as many people have said, the racism and religion is window dressing, Inifnite acknowledges they exist, but then does nothing to explore the concepts, it practically false advertising. Liz has the same problem that Alex Vance suffers from, being a Mary sue who's entire character changes when it's convenient to the plot, /rant

I just meant the gameplay wasn't outstanding. I thought it was fun, and had some really enjoyable vigor combinations, but it was a fairly standard FPS experience. Nothing genre-defining. I wouldn't call the religious aspects "window dressing" at all. It's integral to the story, and it explores metaphysical consequences of a real religion, not just some made-up universal religion (a la Dead Space) -- and it's not afraid to portray it as sinister and warped. And what did you want from the game, in terms of racism? Did you want to hunt down citizens for being racist assholes? That would've been very out of character for a guy who hunted down union leaders and enforced big-business oppression for a living. He doesn't care what others are doing, he just wants to get his man (or woman, in this case). Really, I don't understand what people want out of this. It's a relatively short game that crams in tons of twists and turns in the plot without ever becoming a cheesy "gotcha"-style ending. And you keep lumping me in with useless reviewers that throw around 10s like dollars in a strip club...I concede that there are flaws, but there aren't too many games out there that have left me (and damn near everyone I know that's finished the game) with a sense of child-like awe and wonder.

  • I'll get the elephant in the room out of the way first - People like me had a lot of expectations for this game because a lot was promised (compare the release to gameplay trailers from 2011/10) over a long time (delays were constantly happening), and the end result failed to deliver on most accounts, if the game was just a standalone game with no reputation attached, i would've happily called it an okay B-movie of a game and left it at that (though I'd debate for months about how the ending doesn't work as it breaks the very first rule of time travel - don't cause a paradox - and is in general a pretty generic multiverse/timetravel story(I've seen this done before and done better) story, but made in the style of a gotcha twist...). Now for a segway, the thing that made the original Bioshock work was that it's story and game-play tied together, everything had it's place - now for Infinite, something along the lines of "travel through different alternate realities where the roles are reversed or changed (like say, white people being slaves to black people) to show how absurd the racism is" would be what I wanted, just a different take on an existing concept AKA what the ""shock series is about - What i didn't want was 'save the girl, who doesn't need saving, also racism, also the bad guy was inside you all along because time travel" I'm getting off now, but if you want to keep going i'm on everyday.
