They have some daunting interviews that pretty much destroyed everyone's hopes of flying their ships.
But deep down after watching the video from the Roghnut that features a introduction to our solar system the inner game designer in me can see using that as both the system map and how we actually get around from planet to planet using the ship as a in game cursor.
It's easy to envision something out of Reach and the Long Night of Solace where you fly in a massive map of our solar system but nothing real time like EVE online.
Once you approach a planet you go into orbit and you'll see missions or friends as markers on the horizon as you fly to them and then it warps you into joining your buddy and your ship bolting off into the sky and orbit as seen in the E3 demo.
That's what I'm hoping for but whatever happens I'm sure I'll be blown away by the final product and Bungie's vision.

Saying that, I am confused why there will be options to customise your spacecraft, seems a bit lack lustre to have that ability if you can pilot them

Well in my version you are flying, it but instead of a massive real time flight you're flying around a star map and it's really big so you can have races and battles. Yay! Everyone gets something lol.

This reply is the best so far mate, I think you hit the nail on the head. Real shame about not being able to fly, but hey, it will be a 10/10 game and it will look and feel amazing still.
