Because it is much more likely that we will be using shotguns in this game than swords.

Okay, you apparently didn't get the reference. It's OK, I understand; it's pretty obscure. In the cartoon "Voltron" (the Americanized amalgamation of the original Japanese "Beast King GoLion" and "Dairugger XV series), the good guys always yell "Form Blazing Sword!" in the last 15 seconds of nearly every fight & finish off the RoBeast with a few well-placed slices. The name was a reference to the act, and not to the sword itself. Anyone who watched the show back in the day has probably thought the same thing I have: "Why the hell didn't they just Form the damn Blazing Sword at the start of the fight & avoid a crap-ton of property damage!?" The sword is simply a deus ex machina used by the animators to end the fight abruptly, and with panache, so that the episode can transition to the closing scene. If it helps, we could simply call the gun "FINISH HIM!"...
