What was your first Bungie game?

Pre-Halo (Marathon, Myth, ONI, et al)

Halo: CE

1879

Halo 2

467

Halo 3

548

ODST

42

Reach

Destiny

I'm just curious. Tell us which title was your first taste of Bungie action and adventure. This is a census, as well as a chance to walk down memory lane. And, sorry to those of you that want to vote specifically for Myth, Marathon, or ONI. The polls on Bungie.net don't support that level of detail.

  • Because apparently Myth, Marathon, or ONI was too mainstream... Halo: CE on the original xbox console. Man... I still remember how big and ugly those controller were!

my relationship with halo got off to a bumpy start. when i was 8 or 9, I played the first 2 levels of halo 3. after feeling all stressed up by the events of crows nest (stupid useless bomb ticking), and thinking that after all this time i had not completed it (when i was actually already in tasvo highway), i more or less gave up. when i was 11, my fiend reintroduced me to it, i completed the halo 3 campaign, played halo reach, waited with anticipation for halo 4, was disappointed with it, and now at the age of 13 and a few moths, i have downlaoded halo CE deo and played the silent cartographer countless times. (i disliked halo on the computer though)

    • I was given an Xbox and Halo Combat Evolved for christmas 2001, it was easily the best Xmas I ever had (Thank you Bungie!). I'm 29 now and I still catch that original theme pounding through my head... :)

    • ODST,also My first FPS game.It left a profound impact on me.I also loved reach with a passion,it had everything that defined bungie as a great studio and was one of the very few(And the first) Game to make show some emotion and actually shed a tear.

I had played halo round friends houses since CE. But I never owned a halo until halo 3. But to be honest, reach was my first true halo. Didn't leave my disc tray for about 6-8 months. I spent so much time in that game it was scary.

    • My first experience with a Bungie game was Halo 2 LAN parties in my dorm at the University of Arizona. Those experiences were amazing and I cannot forget how many arguments were waged over wether or not a participant was "screen peeking"! Playing Halo 2 with friends was one of two main motivations for me to get an Xbox 360 when it was time to retire my PS2. The other was the Gears of War commercial featuring "Mad World" during the cinematic. The first Bungie game I purchased was Halo 3 which coincidentally was the first time I ever attended a midnight launch party. I cannot wait for Destiny!

I remember way back when halo first launched. Microsoft was dead set on it being their Xbox pony and they hyped it up so much. I was in middle school back then and all the kids in my class just gobbled up the hype. Being a non-conformist I naturally disliked the game right off the bat (without even having played it) just because everyone else thought it was so great. Eventually one of my friends convinced me to help him beat his campaign. He wanted to play easy, but I read that legendary description and couldn't resist. The game was so Goddamn fun I haven't stopped playing yet. There's nothing I love more than being converted by sheer quality. Keep up the good work, Bungie.

      • ONI was my first, played a little bit of that. Then it was ODST that came with my xbox 360 when I finally got one, loved it and went back and played all the Halo games. Currently thinking about playing Marathon.

First Bungie game I played was ONI. However, I had no idea about that until a few years ago :P (I mean, I never had any idea that ONI was a Bungie game.) When playing Halos (which I played ever since the release of the first one), the name of the ONI organization always reminded me of the ONI game, but I always thought it was a total coincidence (I mean, I know it's all derived from the Japanese word, but being the abbreviation). It was a fun realization...

          • Destiny will be my first Bungie game. Went from Atari to Nintendo to Sony. My son has a 360 but all I ever play on it is CoD and don't even play it anymore.

              • My first experience with any xbox game was Halo: CE. I was introduced in middle school, and every weekend I went over to my friends' house to play it. I've been a Bungie addict ever since, though I started a little late in the game (8 years ago seems rather short). Halo was the reason I bought an xbox. I'm still best friends with the person who introduced me, too. Bungie: making friends for life.

              • All I can say is I started on Marathon and found Myth! Ohhhh sweet Myth, I think I best described that game as the twin to addiction wrapped in a burlap bag and shoved into a dryer. In other words that game was awesome! Myth 2 was even "more" awesome( if that was even possible), online game play was incredible! The ranking system was pure caffeine in digital format.

My first Bungie game was Halo: CE and I actually played it at party for church with all the other kids whom were bored with the party. I thought it was about angels when I heard "Halo".
It wasn't about angels.
• Combat Evolved for me. Almost never played it because when I was a kid I was like "what the heck's an Xbox, I'll take more N64/PS1 games please". Then I went over to my friends house and played the level Halo for the first time. Best thing ever, but sucked cuz I had to wait another 6 months for my birthday to get it.
