Factions not what they seem

So originally I was thinking that the factions were more groups that developed during the Golden Age. Groups that settled on different planets and installations. With the fall of the Golden age they retreated to Earth and are now fighting for territory in the City. The FOTC (Forces of the City) are the Guardians. The Factions are trying to recruit Guardians to strengthen their forces. However, yesterday this screen shot was released and it clearly shows both the Osiris and the Dead Orbit logos on the gun and the Dead Orbit logo on the helmet. I am now leaning more toward the theory that they factions are actually corperations and you can purchase gear and weapons from each company and that each company will have different concepts for their equipment. what are your thoughts on this?

If you look at some of the screenshots the armor pieces of some of the factions match some of the adversaries such as the armor of the 7 Seraphs looking like the Vex, shown in the video at 9:22 http://destinynews.net/everything-know/ and a handgun and armor looking like space zombie tech shown here http://destinynews.net/weekly-update-5-23-14/ which makes me think that it (or something similar) may belong to dead orbit

  • I think they are gonna be groups of story related NPC's who lived throughout the collapse. They will offer you quests and special rewards for completing them, as well as story related dialog. And i highly think that you would be able to join more than one of them, like by having a reputation system for each of the factions depending on how you interact with them, and at some point you will have to make a choice to help a certain factions by going against an other one. Like locking your skill tree, you will lock some of your allegiances over time.

    • The new Destiny Drawing board for the Conduit F3 has this posted as the tag line at the beginning. “The Future War Cult’s newest addition to its Faction line…“ Tom Doyle, Art Lead I think this takes the theory that the factions are more like corporations to a new level. I believe that you join a faction or rather are employed by a faction to handle certain missions. This employment gives you access to greater ranges of new tech and gear as well as more support from the faction along the lines if future missions. Deej has said that ammo will be a big concern, potentially having a faction affiliation could give you access to a company ammo stock. It also seems more possible that these factions were controlling groups on other planets as humans expanded and colonized the solar system. This would also add to the fact that in the previously mentioned Conduit F3 drawing board the comment was made that the tach was created by turning the enemies weapons against them. Meaning that FWC may have had better access to certain alien tech based on where they were located during the fall and returned to the City with this new found tech to develop the new weapon systems.
