Gang violence, yes, mass shootings are more to do with mental illness. But the access to a family member's gun or being able to buy one at a gun show, sure doesn't help. The US should at least have a mandatory firearms safety course and a 2 week waiting period on purchasing a firearm.

As far as is know, this was gang related, and that's what I referenced my comment to. A two week waiting period would not have stopped this shooting, the Navy Yard shooting, the Sandy Hook shooting nor the theater shooting in Colorado. - Der

But the media is trying to make it out to be one of the "Premeditated active shooter" incidents. In a way it is. But specific people were targeted. Its not like someone just brought their gun to the court and started shooting random people.
