343i is doing a test where they are making it so Infinity Slayer is required to have Majestic Map Pack.
It'd also help if you asked this at Waypoint instead of Bungie.

*sigh* 343 industries
-
You just replied to a 3 month old post. And the test concluded 2 months ago.
-
He would have gotten banned.
-
Hopefully they keep it this way after the test is over. Seriously, I dropped money on the seasons pass so I would like to play the maps I got.
-
Same here, same here. First day I played the updated playlists, I got an achievement I've been trying to get forever. Now I only have 3 achievements left in the Franchise. 1 on SA and two on Halo 4.
-
Well that's just stupid.
-
Bungie makes it permanent and they get praise. 343i does temporarily - BURN THEM AT THE STAKE

Edited by The Random: 9/21/2013 5:37:13 PMWell, Halo 3 had a considerable population (and a great reputation) that could allow Bungie to make such a move. Plus every copy of Halo 3: ODST had every Halo 3 map pack. Halo 4 doesn't have a large population, or nearly as good of a reputation. So it's a good thing this is temporary for people who still play Halo 4.

The Halo 4 GotY Edition is coming out soon.
-
True.
-
Did Bungie make a free playlist a DLC required playlist?
-
Yes. In order to play Halo 3 Multiplayer, you need to purchase every map pack. That change was made sometime during 2008.
-
You can play MM without DLC.
-
Nope. Not unless 343i changed it in preparation for Halo 3 Being Free. Now, there probably are playlists that don't require DLC, but the major ones like FFA and Team Slayer do.
-
Yep. But leave it to 343...
-
lol It's not a test. 3fail3 made another retarded decision, and it's driving away more players than ever. Nowhere in that update post did they say this was a "test". This was by design.
-
You're pathetic. Bungie did the same thing.
-
You clearly did not read all of it.
Something that we are going to experiment with, both in the rotational playlists and also select regular ones, relates to DLC. While matching players who own DLC is heavily weighted during the search phase, we’re seeing reports that some of you are not seeing your purchased maps in matchmaking as frequently as you’d like. As a potential solution to this issue, we are going to make one standard playlist DLC-required (à la Halo 3). Starting 9/16, you will need the Majestic Map Pack to play Infinity Slayer. As the goal of this is to gauge if the DLC-required playlist solution is a viable one, we will be monitoring its population closely. The Game of the Year edition of Halo 4 – which includes all Halo 4 map packs – launches in early October, so we scheduled this change for a time when we can gather data without its impact, then also with it. I’d like to stress this is an experiment, and is in no way, shape or form a permanent move at this time. The primary thing to note is we know you want to play your DLC more often, and we’re dedicated to doing everything we can to make that happen.
I stand corrected. But how many of those players do you think will come back? Realistically (and by history with other games), not a high percentage of players will return after a "test" like this.
-
They're still there. If you played the game you'd realize the populations have shifted to Ricochet and BTB.
