New Halo Anniversary Easter Egg?!

On this fine evening, a friend and I were partaking in some Co-op in Combat Evolved Anniversary. We were battling away in the Library and a midst the chaos, my co-op partner lost his footing and, seemingly was falling to his peril into one of the pits which was covered by a now broken sheet of glass. Under normal circumstances this would have lead to his untimely demise. However, events transpired quite differently. As he fell, he was just above an equally unlucky flood plummeting below as well. This enabled him to survive the fall. I was surprised when he exclaimed, "I'm ALIVE!" I dispatched all the combatants in the immediate vicinity. As I was finishing off the flood above my fallen comrade, he was excitedly explaining how he was surrounded by particularly intricate Forerunner textures. Curiosity got the better of me and I decided to descend into the depths of this pit, which as expected, resulted in instant death. Fortunately I was reunited with my co-op buddy almost right away, via respawn. We scanned the walls of our rectangular prison in search of objects of interest. Against all odds we found the word "Halo" etched into the wall. We analyzed it for some time but could not find anything interesting about it, except its hidden existence. So what is the significance of this? Could this be one of the numerous undiscovered Bungie easter eggs? Or is this simply a symbol left by 343 while remastering this infamous level, in the thought that no one would ever find it? We may never know.
