Just register your gun...
Keep your guns safe and out of the hands of the wrong people and don't go on a killing spree. It's not that difficult a concept.
My family has a lot of guns (we're in Wyoming). So many, in fact, that it might be classified as an armory. We're responsible. Everything is under lock and key (and in a garage built into a hill). Our stuff is registered and our children are taught responsible gun handling.

I keep my guns safe and out of the wrong hands by not registering any of them. None of my weapons are registered or have any paperwork.
-
The government isn't going to take your guns, lol.
-
No, they're not, because I do not register them, they do not know what I have, and I would die defending the rights given to me by the Constitution that our government does not care about.
-
How dare people not interpret the Constitution strictly word for word. How dare they.
-
I know this sounds crazy, but some people don't want their guns to be destroyed.
-
Fair enough
-
I already suggested this since registering a gun literally takes minutes to do, yet it seems no one wants to do so and would rather spend their time complaining about it on a video gaming forum about how bad California is. If they don't like it in this state, I'd prefer for them to leave. I wouldn't miss them and they could go complain about the next state they move to or the next country they move to. Knowing the Off-Topic that are very vocal about this, I would give them about 45 minutes before they find something to complain about.
-
There is no reason to register your guns. Registering your guns to keep people "safe" is simply a ploy by the government so that once martial law is put into place the local sheriff's departments will be able to collect and confiscate your registered weapons as an act of "keeping you safe" because Al Queda infiltrated America or whatever bullshit story they come up with. Do not give away your freedoms, protect them and oppose those who wish to take them away from you.
-
Maybe they want to pass their guns on to their kids? Is that too much? California wants to destroy history.
-
Then they should pass their guns down to their kids in a different state. How hard is it to write your name on a piece of paper? That's registering a gun right there. And what history? Racism, death, destruction of cultures and using other cultures to get ahead? When people think of California history, I bet they're thinking of the Gold Rush, which is full of what I mentioned.
-
If their kids live in California, the guns get destroyed. In order for the guns not get destroyed, his children have to move out of the state, what if they like living in California?
-
The parent's choice. Face criminal charges for listening to his kids and getting slapped around by said kids like the typical American parent, or move away and then explain to the kids later.
-
I don't get it, you think people should be punished for living in California?
-
You are missing the point. These are popular hunting rifles that have be banned for sale and possession unless they are registered as assault weapons simply because they fire a bullet per pull off the trigger and accept a detachable magazine. Even when registered you cannot transfer them and they are confiscated and destroyed when you die. That means no passing them down, and you are slapped with a felony if you were to let a person under 18 use it.
-
You are missing the context as to why these hunting rifles were classified as assault weapons. California has a crime problem (what place doesn't?). The closer you get to the Mexican border or crime-laden areas of urbanized areas, the more you'll see weapons used on people. There are people involved in organized crime who like those guns because they kill their rivals and innocents in the most efficient of ways. Does it suck that you're paying for it? Yes. Is the government simply out to piss you off and ruin your fun? No.
-
Yes, everywhere you go there will be a crime problem but it isn't the same amount. Places with lenient gun laws typically see lower crime rate to a place with very strict gun laws. How's Michigan's and Illinois's strict gun laws doing for them? Both Detroit and Chicago are cities with the most violence and in 2011, there were more deaths in from guns in Chicago than Afghanistan. How can a place with strict gun laws have more murders than a a country in the midst of war? If we wanna stop hearing stories about an innocent person gunned down by some gang-banger then allow them to carry some sort of actual protection. Would it make sense when hunting that you kill the baby animal with a defensive mother nearby or wait till it's alone and defenseless? If more people start carrying around at the minimum a .22 handgun then criminals would rethink committing a violent crime if the possibility that their target is armed to protect themselves.

Rifles account for 1% of gun related deaths a year. These rifles have never been an issue.

Edited by Cortana Five: 9/14/2013 2:08:42 AMCitation needed. That aside, I get the frustration. I get the kicking and screaming over this. I already agreed that it sucks, but there is a reason for it. You probably think that reason is bullshit, but there's a reason.
-
There is literally no reason for it.
-
There is a reason, but it depends on whether you think that reason is bullshit or not.
-
If I was at my computer, if get that for you. Read the last CDC gun report.
-
Will do out of genuine curiosity, and not for the sake of an internet argument. I enjoy acquiring new knowledge.
-
Then why are they punishing the people who aren't doing anything wrong? Oh yeah because if you stop gang violence, it's white cops being racist.
