  • yes, because information you know will completely change the world and the secret service wants to know what you do in you living room. no, microsoft doesn't want to sit there and watch some random gamer with a blank face playing for hours, they also dont want to watch you fap. they have much better things to do then watch people sitting on a couch.

Like I said to the other guy. Don't share my concerns. Don't think what I'm saying is somehow baseless. I don't have much trust in Microsoft (and even less trust in the American government) to keep my privacy, well, private. Lot's of you like to talk a big game when it comes to privacy concerns. You hear "Well if you don't have anything illegal to hide then what's the big deal?" I don't have anyone illegal to hide. You probably don't either. Most people don't. Yet if push came to shove I have a funny feeling you wouldn't want your text messages, what you're doing in your living room, and most certainly some of the things you've searched on the Internet to be easily accessible to anyone but yourself. So no, I don't have much faith in leaving the Kinect plugged in. I like to know what I'm doing in private is kept private.

  • if the government was really after they wouldn't use the kinect. they would hack into you computer and hack into your phone to see every message you sent, everything you ever typed and everything you ever looked at. the only time they would watch you through kinect would to get an identity match or to target advertise.

  • It's not about the government being after you or I. It's about the blanket violation of privacy and collection of personal information which is then loosely protected with no accountability. Like I said, are you okay with your Internet search history being easily accessible to strangers? Are you okay with people in other countries having your personal information when the American government hands all that information to foreign governments? Naturally there is stuff you, and this goes for everyone, have probably looked up online, sent in a message, said over the phone you wouldn't want anyone else ever, ever seeing. Now how do you feel about many people being able to easily access and see that stuff? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that makes you a bit uncomfortable.

I'd hardly call it baseless. We know the American government is out of control when it comes to taking people's private information. We know how poorly that information is protected. We know Microsoft has a history of letting the government take that information. You don't have to share my concerns. But don't give me this "what you're saying is baseless" stuff.
