I stumbled upon this while reading OPM UK's "Studios that are doing the PS4 right" online article. The article states, "Destiny’s take on multiplayer starts with co-op, with two players playing splitscreen, but also throws in ‘Public Areas’ – pre-defined points in the game where other bands of players can join up together to take on specific challenges, like bringing down a particularly bothersome alien." I'm not sure if this is a mistake, but Rich Wordsworth specifically mentions "two players playing splitscreen". I know there are bits and pieces of information hinting at local co-op, but it seems that there's nothing really concrete. I hope it's true.

Oh man i hope this is legit! Cause i have family and friends that i want to share those cool moments with in destiny!! I hope bungie fits this in!

I hope its true, Destiny being social at its core and all. whats more social than playing on the same sofa?

Damn, that is very interesting. Local co-op is something I really would enjoy in Destiny and I'm hoping we'll be fortunate enough to have it. Thanks for the post.

Awesome find man! Us split screen players may have hope yet!

That'd be pretty righteous to have my friends come over and sign in on their PSN to access their characters at the same time. I hope its true.

Could be done with signing in another gamer tag with a destiny character. But guests? I don't think so.
