School uniforms primarily are in private schools. These schools traditionally have much higher standards in discipline.
Uniforms do not improve learning. Higher standards and discipline do more in that regard than anything.

Schools with uniforms normally have discipline so I guess that's the coloration.

That's my view. My sons went to a public school (one is still there), and just from the stories they tell me of how kids are not managed and by the laws these days can not be adequately disciplined, it seems as though the inmates are running the asylum. Both attended private school until the 3rd grade. Public Elementary school was fairly regimented, but once they high Jr & Sr. high school, the amount of teacher management of the students plummeted greatly.
