First off, Pop music has been everywhere since forever, since pop music isn't a genre, it is the popular music of the time. Second, could you define the 'once great rock artists' for me? There are a lot of great rock artists, and a lot are still active. Third, bands like QotSA, Foo Fighters and Tenacious D are more popular than ever. Also, there are lot of Rock bands. Just search the Internet for more bands, instead of hanging around in your old music collection. Who knows, you may find something new and amazing.

 • QotSA, Foo Fighters, and Tenacious D are all fantastic bands. But, are they as popular as they were back in the early 2000's? I have trouble believing that. BTW QotSA's new album is absolutely fantastic, but how much competition did it have from other rock bands? Not nearly as much as Songs for the Deaf did.

 • With bands like The Black Keys and Fun I think the competition if there.
