Microsoft has not mentioned anything that would convince me buy the current Kinect nor the new Kinect. I wouldn't bother connecting it to the Xbox from what little I've seen of the Kinect lineup of games and features.
Now, if MS/EA announced that Battlefield 4 was going to integrate Track IR-like head tracking with the Kinect then they would have my interest. That would be a great way to get the interest of "hardcore" gamers.
Hell, if that happened then it would be the perfect time for Codemasters to bring Operation Flashpoint back from mediocrity and bring the war simulator back to consoles.
This might be a shitposting thread, but I have to gush my thoughts.

How long do you think it will be before the 'expressions platform' will start to change the way developers use the Kinect? Personally, I think the ability for Kinect to recognise changes in heart rate, expression and attention is much more interesting that tracking head position (which it can definitely do). Imagine a Slender game, where the Kinect dynamically decides the best time for him to appear...

Edited by Blazin Phoenix: 9/13/2013 10:39:37 PMI think there's a lot of neat things the Kinect can do enhance player experience (That's enhance. Not be the sole input device.), but the only thing that MS and game devs have shown is a large amount of shovelware that can be made with it. I think it would be pretty neat to base video game background music off of the heart rate of players (after some calibrations are done for individual users). Soothing music at lower bpm and more exciting music at higher bpm. Also ambulance sirens go off at 0 bpm.
