I'm not trying to be a Debby Downer here and I really hope I'm wrong, but how is Destiny going to be any different than Halo? Halo had all of those features, and I guess I'm waiting to see how Destiny is going to be different/better than what we have already experienced.
Duuuuuude............. If after all the interviews and blog posts and articles written you still don't see the difference... IDK. Maybe Bungie should just post a venn diagram on their homepage.

Don't get me wrong man, I'm excited for Destiny. The idea of an open world is exciting, but we don't actually know what that means... Sure, it won't be linear, but Borderlands does this, along with many other games. The seamless matchmaking is a sweet idea, but is that the feature that is going to turn the FPS on its head again? I guess ultimately I'm just impatient and ready to hear what this will practically look like for gamers. I will love this game regardless, but the phrasing they are choosing for that pillar is a bit misleading.
I guess ultimately I'm just impatient and ready to hear what this will practically look like for gamers.
I understand that sentiment. Since the game is still apparently in pre-alpha, expect an oncoming information drought and a lot of vague answers for the foreseeable future :/

Good point. There's little doubt that this really will be a game changer the same way Halo was, I'm just really ready to understand how. Open world + customizable character/weapon + bungie shooter = immense success... However, I feel like I'm still waiting to see what will truly make it a "game changer"

Yeah, I think it's going to be one of those things you can't put into works. You'll drop into the world, go on your first mission, and things just start...... happening. You'll be immersed in the game almost by accident and THAT will probably be what's groundbreaking.

I agree. I'm sure it will be the balance and "feel" of the game that will separate this from every other game. Just anxious to play it!

Or a Vidoc, name it Holding Hands: Why Destiny is not an MMO
-
I agree. The point of this thread is not to say destiny won't be awesome. It to say that maybe Bungie should be a little clearer about what this game is and what it is not.
-
I have heard in multiple interviews and read in multiple articles Bungie employees say it is a Shared World Shooter, and NOT an MMO. Where do you get your info for Destiny?
-
I know that it is not an MMO, but they have said their main reason for not phrasing it as such was to avoid the assumption that monthly fees would be involved. I'm just saying maybe the assumptions people are making about this game are due to very broad statements about what they are making.
