If you recall several moths ago, I posted that I have applied for a reviewing job with IGN. I said that I sent off my resume, and then when I heard back they said that I am not particularly qualified since my Major was not related to that medium.
Right now, I am about to finish my degree in Associates of Applied Science.
Well, today rolls around and I get a random email from IGN. It seems that they actually want me. Now, I don't know if they have been paying attention to my youtube channel. Or they are just so desperate for reviewers?
Anywho, as tempting as this would have been before. I highly enjoy what I have NOW. I control the content, and I don't have to complete it all in a certain amount of time. On top of that, my current career is almost here.
Is this shocking that this turn of events happened? Would you say that I should take it, if I had the ability?
EDIT: They did not tell me the payment that they were going to offer me. But I can already tell you that it would be like comparing apples to oranges. My actual career pay with my AAS degree is in the 6 figures.

1 ReplyEdited by TURRETS: 8/15/2013 11:42:04 PMnot worth it concentrate on school and do that shit at your own pace. If you know you're going to make six figures right out of college then you should probably enjoy the time you have left and not stress about deadlines for some shitty company.
-
I would say take it just cause it would get your foot in the door for that industry and that's a huge step.
-
I say you work for IGN. That will get you into the industry like TopWar mentioned and from there on out you'll be set.

Congrats on the job offer. Do what makes you happy.
-
Take the job. Seriously. You'll be getting paid for something you already love to do. Plus you'll be in the industry now. So you have a possibility of going to certain events like E3...maybe.
-
3 RepliesI'm just curious where an Associates of Applied Science gets you $100k plus. - Der
-
2 RepliesWell your reviews certainly aren't shit like the rest of IGN.
-
I say do it, it would be a great experience and you never know what good things will come from it.
-
2 RepliesIf you do- don't give in to the cash- be honest.
-
I'd say go for it, I love IGN. Say hi to Greg for me.
My actual career pay with my AAS degree is in the 6 figures.
Um... C-Can I.... Can I come live with you? I am potty trained and can cook my own food and stuff.

i was going to post something along the lines of "take it, the economy is poor and you need the money" but then i realised: "when the hell isn't the economy poor?"
-
Screencap the e-mail.

Only if you keep shooting bad games

19 RepliesWhy do you need a degree to review games? That is dumb as -blam!-, spend your money on a degree for something useful. Go to a trade or technical school.

don't you have to have an interview first?
-
I should let Prundii handle this but, Your better off taking what you are already going to be qualified for. If you feel like doing reviews continue to do them freelance as a hobby.
-
How much dolla' dolla' are they offering?

1 ReplyINFILTRATE THAT SHIT.

If it's not too personal, how much are they offering money wise?
