The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth
by Anton Szandor LaVey ©1967
1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
2. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
4. If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.
7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
9. Do not harm little children.
10. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.
11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.
Satanists.
Leading better lives than most Christians.

There has never been a time in my entire life where I've been able to read the eleventh commandment of Satanism and not laugh hysterically. I mean, seriously, can you imagine how that would play out in a real-world scenario? "Excuse me sir, would you be interested in a pamphlet?" "No thank you." "Are you sure you don't even want to look at-" *Sets him on fire*

Edited by DMMetalaane: 8/15/2013 8:46:46 PMI think that, just like the modernization of other religions, it's a bit different these days with rule 11. Perhaps a verbal destruction would be more suitable, I dunno. THOUGH...the 60s weren't exactly that long ago, and that's when those rules were conceived, so I'm not sure what Mr. LaVey was thinking. Hell, maybe he meant verbal destruction in the first place.
-
"Destroy" isn't exactly a word that carries with it a broad range to interpretable capacity, especially in this context.
-
Well, that's what Fundamentalists think with Christianity. The whole concept of abysmal to no interpretation of doctrine, and they're nuts. So if there was ever a Fundamentalist Satanist, they'd probably be nuts also.
-
Then LaVey was unnecessarily vague. Just say "Demand that they cease their actions or be burdened with the might of the dark arts" or some other hippy-emo-pizza nonsense.
-
I agree. I may be assuming this, but you seem to think the concept of magic is completely hogwash. If you'd PM me, I could shed some light that could make you think a bit differently.
-
You don't need to PM me. Subthreads exist for a reason on Bungie.next, to contain otherwise off-topic content within threads. Magic is quite farfetched and very unsubstantiated in concept, and I'm sure you'll find the majority of users within this group view it the same way. I'm willing to listen to whatever, though.

How edgy of you
