People can't. Besides, in the USA, you can only be on TANF (temporary assistance for needy families) for a limited amount of time. Its been that way since Clinton. The idea of the Welfare Queen died in the 90's. Since then all that remains is the conservative lie that these people exist.

Some of the welfare reforms done during Clinton were suspended when the Obama stimulus bill passed. I don't know about the time limitations, but the "welfare to work" portion was suspended.

There are many more types of welfare besides temporary aid.

Who? People who are on unemployment? Cause that's an insurance paid into by you and your employer. Food stamps or WIC? Medicare? Do you know even what you are talking about? No one just gets a check. The only programs that just give money, no strings attached, have a set amount of time.

I'm not sure why you said who... And yes I do know what I'm talking about, I was a recipient of the food supplement program, electricity bill assistance (don't remember what the program is called) and I know several people who receive housing vouchers and other types of welfare.

All of which are temporary programs that require regular forms or office visits to get. No program just sends a check forever, as stated in the OP.
