Some wisdom does not diminish with time.
-
I've always liked Halo Reach more so...
-
I actually dont think that would happen this time.
-
People will then talk about how awesome Halo 4 was.
-
That is what happens when something gets worse, it doesn't make something that sucks any better.
-
That's funny Reach>H4 right now

I remember a time when there wasn't a person on this site who liked reach (save for trolls), now it's revered by half the people here. The cycle continues.
I remember a time when there wasn't a person on this site who liked reach (save for trolls), now it's revered by half the people here. The cycle continues.
I know right. Everyone is so critical and always complaining about current games. Then all of a sudden the old ones are good.

Reach was God Aweful - H4 was God Aweful They are both equally sh*t
-
I don't understand why anyone thought reach was bad. It's different than H3, but still amazing, more so in my opinion. Halo 4 is just flat out awful, in every way, and has no personality or uniqueness.
-
I'm sure it won't be hard for you to find the reasons people detest Reach.
-
Two words: Swan Song That's what we were promised, and it's certainly not what we got - a phrase that was thrown around a lot was "reach is a decent game, but a terrible HALO game" - And don't ask me to repeat all the things said 3 years ago, please.

I thought it was a hell of a swan song. They gave us an amazing forge/forge world that kept community content coming for years, they gave us a campaign with insane replay value, they have us incredible custom game options, they gave us incredible firefight options. What the fck were you looking for?

Edited by The Great DanTej: 11/22/2013 10:04:45 AMI'm telling you, I'm not repeating all the complaints from the reach forum, but I can do bullet points: -Campaign was short and incredibly bland, with long night of solace being the only part worth playing more than once -Forge world was nice on paper, but in game play you ended up with every map looking the same - GREEN AND GREY ALL DAY ERRY DAY -Speaking of which, several of the shipped maps were made in forge, and they were some of the worst in halo history (Seriously, the cage and paradiso are nightmare inducingly bad) -Meanwhile, the bungie made maps ranged from bland (powerhouse and boneyard) to terrible and poorly designed (swordbase and spire) -Not to mention, having the maps in the campaign just feels lazy no matter how I slice it -Firefight lost all of it's appeal to a lot of people when it became less about survival, and more about whoring for points - the custom option undermined the core experience more than they helped it And most damming of all, the core mechanics were terrible - Armour abilities did not work at all with halo gameplay, and the reduction in base player traits that they caused only compacted the problem - on top of that, bloom is random and a terrible idea- and general weapon balance was all over the place (most every covvy weapon being useless, and the DMR being god amongst rifles) - vehicles also tended to be made of paper (the banshee was a glass cannon and it only made things worse(MY GOD BANSHEES OF PARADISO, they were even worse than scorpions on hemorrhage) - so while there was more potential for good custom games, they were killed by the game itself. So basically, Reach was a pile of conflicting and underdeveloped ideas that simply didn't hold up to the standards set by past halo games - if Reach was the first game of a series it'd be amazing, but as the supposed pinnacle, as halo's swan song? Mate, you're dreaming. --------------------- Heh, those are just the bullet points, Reach forum itself put the worst console wars to shame - remember reach forum

I was born in that forum (it's when I joined anyway), born in blood.

No, Halo 4 will always be shit.
-
That's what the community has done for years. It will happen again.
-
No. Not with halo 4
-
I've noticed this trend. However I don't believe that'll be the case for two reasons: *Numbers. There aren't enough people who play the game who would reminisce. *Halo 4 isn't a Bungie game. Conditions of the trend are a little different. Also note that most people who hated Reach still tell us how much they hated Reach. There just so happened to have been a large group of fans who love it. Back to point one...

Reach's problems haven't gone anywhere and are just as annoying as they were when the game came out. Halo 4 was just more annoying, and all it's done to Reach is help some players appreciate what it did do well. User Interface is the most prominent example of that.
-
I never believed this until Halo 4 came out. I thought Halo 4 was going to be the best thing ever and that I wouldn't need Reach ever again. Turns out to be quite the opposite. But when I got Reach I didn't dislike Halo 3. In fact, I both love Reach and 3 very much! :]
