My friends keep telling me it's going to be great, but I'm under the impression that it's turn-based strategy, correct? TBS games just don't interest me for the most part. The only ones I've ever enjoyed are XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Nintendo's Advance Wars series.

It's split into two parts: the turn based campaign map and the RTS battles that take place every time your army meets another (or several etc) or a settlement. Multiplayer can either be two player co op or just the battle part with up to 8 people. It really is the perfect blend. Check out some reviews or gameplay of the series.

Partially, partially not. You have a main map, where you control armies, navies and other agents (spies, assassins/ninjas, diplomats) and control cities (building structures or units). But once an army or navy you control enters combat with an opposing force or city, the game turns into real time strategy, where you control the individual units in your army and try to either destroy or rout your enemy's forces
