Math is a tool made by man to see how big a log is. Math is as much a key to the physical universe as a screwdriver is.

? How does "2 plus 2 equals 4" rely on anything other than definitions of 2, 4, addition, and equality?

It doesn't, that is the point. Much like how a screwdriver is useless without its screws, mathematics is useless without theoretical scenarios. Math isn't real; you can't touch it nor feel it. It's an element created by your mind to try to create something when you can't. It'a like trying to apply a screwdriver to a spiritual plane. In short: Math isn't physical, it's imaginary Screwdrivers aren't imaginary, their physical You can't use one for a purpose it wasn't made to handle.

Math's all a priori, science just applies that to the real world. Math says "If a certain thing exists with these properties, it behaves in this way", and science uses that when it finds one of those things with those properties.
[Not entirely sure what this means or how it relates to the topic
It means math doesn't exist. It can only be used in your mind and in theoretical situations, situations that aren't physical. Yeah, you can add rock + rock to equal 2rock, but the logical knowledge and symbols to create those numbers are not part of the physical universe, they're part of your mind.
Math is essential to empirical science, though...
Math is hardly even necessary for empirical science. You don't need to know math to see, "Dog eats meat. I am meat. Dog eats me." Also, science is simply the understanding of the universe. At most, science can physically be the led on the paper that makes up the letter of a research paper. The universe is already there, science is simply taking note of it.
You don't need to know math to see, "Dog eats meat. I am meat. Dog eats me."
You're right. Now you're applying a *logical* principle... I'm still not getting it.

I agree. Let's just end this here.

Wait, you agree to what?

Agree to disagree, I suppose? I don't know anymore.
