Can we have our old forums back now?

I have tried and tried to like the new format but all the main forums are just a cluttered mess. I can only imagine what this place will be like after Destiny launches. I understand the purpose of the change but this community simply was not ready for it. Just take a look around at all the main forums, it's painfully clear that Bungie should be in control and not the users. The old format allowed everyone to communicate in a fairly simple manner without the clutter. You can say it's our fault and I would agree but something needs to happen.

  • We can never go back. The forums are gone, the comments section lives.

Bungie wasn't in control before. We tried for nearly a decade, but there are too many of you and too few of us. The choice was to lock down discussion to only approved topics and rule with an iron fist or find a way to leverage the scale of our user base against forum griefing. As I've said before - thanks to the mute/hide feature, my forum view is excellent and uncluttered. I hide topics I don't care to see, alts don't bother me, even #Offtopic is pretty reasonable now. The forums are what you make of them. What needs to happen is that you need to get to moderating your own view. You can make the forum look however you want it.

    • I wish we could have all of the tools we have now, on the forums we had before.

    • I have gotten used to it and this is coming from somebody who loved the old site with the navbar. There is only one thing that truly bothers me here. That pre order button is an eyesore and I am just waiting for it to turn into an ad that runs down half of the screen. YO DAWG I ALREADY PRE ORDERED DAT SHIT SON!!

    • I really don't see how this is considered 'cluttered'

    • I don't need you as my keeper. I can make my own decision on who I want to read or not or what I find offensive or interesting. If a member goes over the line the moderators are still available. Make use of the system and report when necessary.

    • I like the self-moderation, but just bring back the old format. The reddit style forum page, the way the posts are in the threads, and freaking reply stacking are the things that make me not come here often. I can't stand reply stacking at all, worst feature to be introduced since the static navbar. It's trying too hard to be reddit, and I can't stand reddit for the same reason I can't stand b.next.

    • Clutter? Things are actually pretty simple and straightforward if you ask me.

      • They're not going to change it back, they've told us this plenty of times. The only choice we have is to either leave or use what they've given us. In the meantime, we can express what will make the current forum better rather than "Just change it back". If the tools seem lacking, calmly express to them what will make it better, and again, avoid just telling them "change it back" or "make the lazy mods do their job!".

      • Make use of that mute button to rid yourself of the "clutter". You control whats clutter and what you dont want to see as opposed to Bungie doing it for everyone. Be Fast, Be invisible, Be the Mod.
