I'm amazed you haven't gotten tired of posting about the same goddamn topic.

I can't believe he still posts about this sort of things. We have had every possible incarnation of these threads. It is probably for attention.

I'd much rather have him continue to post about such topics than see you post anything.

I apologize for posting about things that I feel strongly about. In the future, I will be sure to limit myself to topics that I care less about but other people may find more enjoyable.

Edited by Eternal Way: 7/30/2013 7:19:59 PMThat would be infinitely more beneficial to the group than incessantly posting threads that have no substance to them and fail to engender any meaningful conversations or debates beyond the condemnations and outrage of the posters. "OH HOW HORRIBLE". "-blam!- [insert state/country]". "DAMN HOMOPHOBES". x1000 But please, continue. I often forget this group is largely comprised of people who have the intellectual capacity to only discuss topics involving abortion, atheism, homosexuality, and religion. I suppose we need people like you who beat any of the four aforementioned topics to death. Its what Sec7s does best.

Edited by Ryan: 7/30/2013 8:31:47 PMThere are several reasons why I decide to make these sorts of threads and I apologize if you think they aren't intellectually stimulating enough for you. First and foremost, I post these stories because I strongly care about LGBT issues and I hope to raise some awareness of these issues to others. I don't think many users on this site hear about LGBT issues in the media that often. I understand that many of the members of our group already have fairly liberal views in this regard, but the threads are public so it allows us to reach more people that may have differing views and this can, hopefully, give them some insight to some of the problems that the LGBT community faces (even if it isn't exemplified in the responses). Granted, Bungie.net (and the internet as a whole) is generally more liberal than average so it may have less of an impact on it, but that doesn't change my justification behind posting since there are still many users that are ignorant on these matters. You can see a lot of the still existent ignorance simply from viewing many of the replies of the thread about the transwoman. That thread is filled with a lot of ignorance and transphobic comments, which shows that we still need to discuss these things. Some of those comments have sparked several less ignorant users to help those users better understand what it means to be trans*. Although I know there are several trolls on this site that may have "contributed" to the transphobia, but the volume of the replies makes me think that they aren't the only culprits. Secondly, I really don't get much opportunity in real life to discuss these sorts of things (which I enjoy discussing) since I am uncomfortable (irrationally, I would say) with talking about these issues with my friends. This (Secular Sevens/B.net) is honestly the only place that I really feel comfortable talking about my sexuality and LGBT issues. Maybe I shouldn't use this site as my "outlet" to discuss these things at the apparent expense of others and the well-being of the group. I mean, it's not your fault that I am too stupid to feel comfortable discussing these sorts of things with people I know in real life who I should rationally conclude wouldn't judge me since many of them are liberal, have out gay friends, and are gay. If these threads really bother the majority of the group, then I will stop posting but I hope that isn't the case.

Fair enough. My primary issue is not that you post such threads but that they tend to be devoid of substance. I feel it would be better for our group's intellectual climate and goals if such threads included more commentary (legal and social history of lgbt movements/rights, discussions about sexuality, gender roles, etc) as opposed to same old condemnation and outrage. I apologize if I have given off the impression that I want you to cease posting about such things entirely. I have become irritated with the state of this group and website but there is a small part of me that cares about the former's future. I only said what I did out of a desire to see some measure of change.

No, you're fine. Eternal is being a jerk.
