Do you have a YouTube account? If so what is it centered on and how many subscribers do you have? I am considering going all in to gaming and try to maybe get a partnership for money. Perhaps I'm looking to far. Sorry if you don't care but I am truly interested in your opinions and experiences.

2 RepliesEdited by Doodling Hitman: 1/22/2014 8:34:02 AMI have a Youtube account but never really did anything with it. Until recently when I decided to post a few Super Mario Galaxy 2 gameplay videos on it. I don't have a capture card so yeah, I recorded it with my iPhone. Potato quality FTW! :D But yeah, I plan on making a few more vids with my phone and eventually get a capture card and a good laptop on which I can capture it and also use a mic with commentary. :) I don't do it for the money although that's always a nice bonus. I just think it is fun and I like to show my gaming moments to my friends. And I like to see myself play too! :D PS: I have like 5 subscribers and those are my friends.

Yeah, I do have one channel, I use it to upload my personal animation experiments and stuff, how to draw and animate for new starters in basic animation.
-
Looks at date... whatever. Ya, definitely try it out if you're interested.

Edited by Mystical: 12/22/2013 1:54:04 AMUpdate from my previous post I made back in Oct: My channel has about 320 subscribers and 130,000+ views now. I do not do partnership or any of that crap. I don't upload my videos for monetary gain and never will. I always felt monetizing my videos would hold me back having certain restrictions and tons of loopholes to get my vids approved. I think I've been sent 50+ messages from different partnerships and declined them all. I don't care to get into that mess. Sure enough with the new content ID issues on youtube it's proven I've made the right choice. It's just for fun for me. My channel was started back in 2011 just to archive my gameplay from various games (mostly shooters but not exclusive to them). I just wanted a place I could show my friends certain matches or after a game's multiplayer died and I can't play it anymore (like say Crysis 2 and Homefrotn now) I can watch them. Since then it's grown into something I never expected with a lot of people liking my content. I do a little commentary but for the most part it's just a channel with matches from games in chronological order. For example, I have all my Halo 4 matches all in order way back to the first match I played and all my Mass Effect 3 multiplayer matches from game one to whatever I'm currently in the process of uploading. It's kinda cool to have a record of all your gamplay recorded and you can go back and see how 'bad' or different you played when a game first came out. I regret not having a capture card and youtube channel when Halo 3 first came out. I would have loved to see my first matches in that game lol So my advice to you OP is make your channel exactly how you want, be different, and don't just make content you don't care about because you think it will get you views. Be original and people will appreciate that.

Also, if you're looking to do it for money, you won't get far at all. People who do it truly enjoy what they do. It'll be years of being an expensive hobby before you start making money. Simply put, if you aren't doing it for fun, you'll get frustrated and probably drop it.

I have a youtube account, yes I have some subscribers, and soon will make some Lets Play stuff and work with a friend to make Payday 2 videos. I'm doing it to make it my hobby so I really don't care about how many subscribers I get.

I'm actually saving money for a good capture card and a good mic because I would like to start a youtube account, mainly doing gameplay videos (planning to start everything asap, but going to do it most likely in june 2014 :D ) . So like pineapple here, if someone has any experience, I'd like to hear them! And advices too! (Also just created this account, hope I have a dandy time :P ).

Yep. 4k subscribers with 300k views. I've been partnered with Machinima.com for a while so I'm making a little money on the side but compared to the fun I have making stuff it's just a nice bonus. If you're really only interested in making money from it then I'll be brutally honest. Unless you're PewDiePie you haven't got a chance, you can tell when somebody's doing gameplay/whatevers solely for money. Most of them have some kind of cringeworthy feel to them...that and they can't stop saying "Uh, um. Oh! Uh, hmm..."

I am almost at 300 subscribers for doing this for less than a year. I have nearly 500,000 views and my channel is named Brute Reviews. As many people here know... My channel pretty much consists of Game and Movie Reviews, Top 5/10 Lists, Revivals of old games, and listing games that are relativly unknown in the show "Games That Dont Suck". I have recently been getting more notice from Publishers and Developers, as well as fellow reviewers such as AngryJoe. I do what I do because I love it! I am also working with an Indie Dev on his project named BloodLust ShadowHunter. The thing you need to know, is that when you voice and opinion about something--be prepared for criticism. If you post here, be ready for some random haters. The MOST important thing is to have fun, and enjoy what you are doing. If you feel passive, nobody will watch you.

I have 1,132 subs. 30,000 plus views, posted 43 videos. Channel name AVC2000 Feel free to subscribe
-
Don't focus on the subscriber count, focus on making your content the best it can be and eventually the subscribers will come
-
I have a channel... 130+ subs, 30k views and counting, all gaming videos, and partnered. I'm still kicking around, and making videos on the side while I have free time.

Edited by DrummDragon: 12/18/2013 2:31:49 AMI'm honestly just starting out with my channel, still only have 10 subscribers, a little over 3000 views. Supposedly, the trick is releasing quality content, and doing so at a fairly fast paced. The more videos you upload, the more youtube will help you promote. But if you have shitty, low quality videos, then people still won't want to watch. Here's an example of my content, recently uploaded: http://www.youtube.com/smartaleckcomedy

1 ReplyEdited by Sesto: 12/7/2013 7:46:32 PMI had a forge series back during Reach called Forge Spotlight... the first few episodes got on the front page of Bungie.net, before they changed their layout/stopped updating their newsfeed. Got tired of it though, so I stopped. Had around 400 subs before I stopped. The videos aren't even that good (many audio gltiches, etc, and stuff) but it was fun while it lasted.

2 RepliesEdited by Roboyed: 12/2/2013 5:01:57 AMI just in someway managed to get 12 even with my poor commentary but people still subbed :D), I do just gaming and live commentaries. I originally created my channel so my friend and I could make vids together, which we did for Halo 4 and we wish to do more. A lot of my pre-recorded vids got wiped when I reset my laptop cause I was an idiot and forgot to back them up. So I am slowly getting my vids back up, but school is taking up most of my time to upload so when I do record, I try to do around 3 or 5 worth of vids on a single session. I say just have fun with it and upload the content you like, its not a fun to do it if its something you find no interest in. If you want advice you do some of what this guy says. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpnFzefTm9Q) You can find me by typing roboyed in the youtube search bar, I have a orange 8-bit looking avatar.

2 RepliesI have a Youtube account just for commenting. I still somehow managed to acquire 9 subscribers.
-
2 RepliesI'm probably not the best person to give advice about youtube vids, cuz mine suck ass anyways. but then again i was trying to make a vine, but who gives a shit. the only opinion i could give ya that might work, make funny ass gaming videos, people love that shit, if you know how to make it funny, but this is what ive seen in the past three years that people love hilarious gaming videos than dual as shit with no commentary. But then again this is my opinion. but like Toxifies said you've got to enjoy and love the game or something like that to make it work, then again this is my onion, so you can choose not to listen to me.
