People hate what they don't understand. Too bad the few people who are transgendered refuse to help others understand.
-
We do not refuse to help others understand, other people are just so unbelievably aggressive, violent, and ignorant about it that we get frustrated and sometimes come off as rude when disproving people.
-
Alright. I'm confused as to how this whole trans thing works. Does she have guy junk or lady junk? If you have a dick, use the men's room. If you've got a bagina, use the closet. This is kindergarten level stuff, guys. Joking aside, am I wrong here?
-
I barely understand either. And the only one who actually knows refuses to explain for mysterious reasons.

Edited by Wyldfyre: 7/28/2013 10:30:42 PMWhy should it be up to us to educate the ignorant? Besides which, have you seen the responses I get when I even try? They aren't exclusive to online environments, just that people think their outdated early age crash course in "difference between boys and girls" trumps anything else.

Edited by The Great DanTej: 9/12/2013 6:53:21 AMBecause you don't solve problems by ignoring them, and you people have barely enough supporters as is. Really, if you want people to be better people, you have to be better than them first (/mild narcissism) and help them become better.
-
Because it's your problem. If you don't care enough to try and fix it, why should anyone else?
-
It's not up to you. It is, however, entirely your fault if you are discriminated against for misinformed reasons after you refused to prevent such a thing from happening.
-
>I'm discriminated against because people don't understand >I'm discriminated against after I explain and they don't listen >I'm discriminated against after I explain and they think they know better >I'm discriminated against after I give up explaining for the hundredth time >Still all my fault ???
-
Yup. It's all your fault.
-
You've been here 5 years. I've been here 3 and have been pretty. Not ONCE have I seen any attempt from anyone like you to explain, nor any follow-up/response threads by anyone else. In fact, I'm pretty sure that type of thread was bannable on the old b.net, so those other 2 years might not even exist. I have no idea where you're getting the concept of being discriminated against for explaining comes from.
Why should it be up to us to educate the ignorant?
If you aren't going to do it, who will?
-
I don't know, but all the information is out there and I'm not going to give a lecture every time I'm approached in offense.

Edited by Dr Mulholland: 9/11/2013 10:20:37 PMWhy can't you educate somebody? Ignorance is the gateway to knowledge. I'm a trans woman and live in a traditional southern community. I mean cowboy boots on school kids and mud riding on the weekends kind of community. People ask me questions all the time and I simply answer them. Some people listen and walk away in acceptance, some people walk away telling me I'll always be a man. Point is, I tried. The more people I educate on the subject, the more chance it has of being understood. I'm all for somebody sticking to their opinion that I'll never be a woman as long as their opinion is educated and has reasoning to it. How can I explain standing by my opinion if I don't allow others to stand by their own? I understand some trans individuals simply want to live a quiet life without pestering. All good, but I don't live by that idea. I enjoy teaching people and I enjoy discussing subjects with people. Transgender issues are slowly becoming more public and people are naturally curious. Like I said: more you explain, more of a chance you have of changing public perceptions.
It's not up to you. It is, however, entirely your fault if you are discriminated against for misinformed reasons after you refused to prevent such a thing from happening.
I agree entirely. If you don't step out of the way of the falling piano, you'll soon be smashed. It'd be nice to just magically have people agree with me, but that isn't reality. And I wouldn't want that magic. The world needs dichotomy so it can grow.

I love you Grace, you are so nice. =^.^=
-
Haha the cat face. You can have my cat if you want. It's annoying sometimes. I'm just not a pet person.
-
It's not because she's female, it's because she is transgender.

Edited by Failure4Life: 7/28/2013 10:31:07 PMYou said "we're" so unless you are also transgender, it is incorrect to say that. The way you have it typed out makes it seem as if you think it's sexism against women. I still don't approve of this kind of behavior from any type of school but I think rewording your comment will clarify your meaning. Granted you could also mean people as a whole but your comment is vague.
