Tell you what Bungie (DeeJ) you always seem eager to please your community so how about this: lets have a vote. Lets see how the community feels shall we?
For all I know, I am totally wrong and most people love this new system, if so I will be the first to admit it.

7 RepliesEdited by Quantum: 7/23/2013 7:14:49 AMI like to think of the old system as everyone playing hide and seek from a bunch of moderators running around with gravity hammers. I like to think of the new system as a 300 player FFA on Zealot with everyone using infinite armor lock. I don't like the new system. I'm all for less restrictions on this forum, but Bungie.next is too far IMO. Nothing will change anyway, I'd guess I'll have to
adapt.
Edited by Comrade Napoleon: 7/24/2013 2:48:43 PM
Honestly, hiding and running from ruthless omnipresent moderators like Jews running from the SS was kind of fun. Gave us something to bond over.
Also,
Muting ruins the fun of forums. Lets be honest guys, when there's drama and conflict on the forums, its fun. When we can just look away and mute spammers and idiots it makes the place boring. That's why I don't use the mute/hide feature. But since everyone else uses them, it has an effect on everyone else. If you like a user but everyone else mutes him, he eventually goes away and you have a lesser forum experience.
Deej: Here are the tools to fix the community. Flood: I don't wanna use em!! They don't work because I refuse to use them!

I kinda like the new system, there are times when I've wondered what the hell that locked thread with the banned OP was about without having to message someone I know to find out.

2 RepliesThe moderators were dicks on the old bungie.

1 ReplyI do miss the old fun and games, but the new site allows more interesting discussion without risk of carpet bans. Sure some people take politics/religion threads too far but you can just ignore them if it stops being a discussion and starts becoming a screaming match. Some of the most interesting conversations I've had with people on this site have been post-flood because the topics were a sure fire way to get banned on the old site. Nothing particularly outlandish or rude, but political and scientific ideology that discussing before was prohibited. Muting is only as good as you use it; you can be a child and mute people who's opinions you don't like, you can mute spammers and trolls without having to wait for them to be banned to clean up the front page or you can mute topics you don't want to see* *At least that what I gathered from DeeJ's post earlier. That being said, I don't particularly like the number of NESFW* threads roaming about, especially with misleading titles. Not entirely safe for work*^ I don't mute them however because I value what those posters say when they actually post something other than Big Booty stuff .-. Not pointing any fingers here...

2 RepliesWhile I much prefer .old's moderation, the current 'do it yourself' system is decent. I'd prefer a thread I hide be completely gone from the front page, rather than have the post collapsed. The 'hidden, but not quite' format just covers the front page with [+ Hidden Post].

I wish all the swear words wernt censored like battlenet fourms

1 ReplyYou cannot has old site back. I cannot regress.
-
20 RepliesBe honest guys. The only reason you're voting for old is because of nostalgia isn't it? Honestly, why would you want to go back to the site where every discussion topic apart from gaming was abstained? We've been given a whole lot more freedom, and now you guys want to go back? It's like offering a prisoner his freedom and he whines about it like a spoiled brat.

Bungie.old EVERYTHING. Everything on the old site was better.
-
4 RepliesThe whole "you have the tools to make it a better experience" argument IMHO is retarded. Is it true? Ya. Does it work? Nope.
-
Considering moderation on Bungie.new is non-existent...
-
The old moderation was better, there weren't constant streams of idiots constantly making political threads about whatever one-sided extremist opinion they have.
-
I am my own personal mod. I like the new system.
-
A mix of both for me. I liked it when someone got banned on the old site because then I wouldn't have to deal with their posts, as well as everyone else for a couple of days. However, on the new site, I have that too, along with a script to ensure I don't have to see detriments on my screen again. I'm also starting to use the report button on this site. It helps a LOT.

Why do you nerds prefer tyranny?
-
The old moderation was too strict and don't tell me there weren't any problems with it, because you, we all know there were. However, this new moderation lacks Ninja banning to those we believe are actually doing wrong where we believe they should be punished for it. Is that what you're complaining about? I don't really see what's wrong besides a lack of involvement from Ninjas and even then they post often enough.

As a user that has been banned 2 times since the update I prefer the old system for two reasons: 1: You got to know what Forum Ninja banned you and why. 2: The length of the ban you got was decided by the Ninja who banned you. Right now you get a 5 day ban, it doesn't matter what you did you get a 5 day ban for anything that is against the rules. If you have recently been banned (I don't know the exact time frame) you get a 15 day ban regardless of the rule you broke. In my case I was at first banned for making a parody thread of this thread. Instead of Jesus my thread was about the prophet Muhammed. That got me a 5 day ban which is somewhat understandable. After being unbanned for a few days I made a poll and asked if people had ever pirated a game. It was an unbiased poll and in no way shape or form did it support piracy. For that thread I got a 15 day ban. We can talk about abortion, racism, sexism, and other controversial topics but we can't talk about piracy on a game developers website. Some things need to change.

Solonoid Please give the Banhammer back to the ninjas. The forums toss and toil about with spam, parody threads, impersonation, offensive content, and pictures of users posted without the consent of that user. No one follows the Play Nice rule, No one is innocent. So I am begging, Return the Bannhammer to the Ninjas, Restore order. You are our only hope.

Achronos Everybody has access to the banhammer. What do you think the hide and report buttons are for? Use them.
A PM conversation between myself and Achronos.

4 RepliesI never once got banned on the old moderation, not even a warning. Never been banned on any forum actually except derp waypoint, but that place is special with biased mods. If old b.net returned I would be fine. You were able to call idiots idiots, call out fanboys, and voice opinion without fear of a ban or warning, the mods here have for the most part been just. Only the real spammers, super bad trolls, and obvious rule breakers got what was coming to them. I miss the days when stupid voting threads or political threads got made (I hate politics) I could say "don't post this, not allowed" and the thread was locked. Now it's just nonsense political, sexual, religion threads after the next. I miss the days when the worst threads we had were those annoying (but now looking back not as annoying as the threads we now see) girl problem threads.

I think the new is better than the old, but it definitely has its share of problems.
-
Bungie.new. Because come on! No rules!!
-
I wish the ninjas had more power, but I'm happy Bungie gave us the tools to self moderate. I guess I just wish we had bungie.old forum RULES.
-
1 ReplyI dont understand why people hate it. They gave YOU the power to moderate the site as you see fit. The old way is essentially acknowledging that users are too lazy to do the work. The only thing I think that could make this new moderation better is to somehow mute a person across the board. Like you mute a spammer and that mutes that persons alts as well. Or have a system in place where you can ignore topics using the hashtag system. So #religion/ #politics you could ignore all those topics and require those discussions to have those hashtags. Maybe thatd be the way to go. The old way is just having the mods do the work for you.

2 RepliesI love the mobile app, it's quick, and the reason I became actually active with the site cause I first made it to get the reach tags and left it there, but now I'm actually using it.
