>MFW this movie
So freaking awesome and I caught those anime references. All throughout the movie I just had the biggest grin on my face and got goose bumps all throughout the movie. Freaking amazing movie. If you haven't seen it yet, go see it. Definitely one of those movies you gotta see in theaters.
What are your thoughts on Pacific Rim?

3 RepliesI just watched the shaky cam version, defo seems like film more suited for the cinema. Better than I was expecting though. One bit I didn't get at the end though.
Why did the 2 guys have to sacrifice themselves when the other team, with the older Jaeger, used escape pods?
Edited by some passerby: 7/22/2013 8:56:36 AMThe fights were awesome but the dialogue was too cheesy for my liking. I'm also sick of these soldier characters who don't obey orders, no wonder you're -blam!-ing brother died Raleigh. What sort of name is Raleigh anyway. Double also, when will the day come that someone can pull off a convincing Australian accent.

It was a shit film for weeaboos and 12 year olds.

1 ReplyIt was okay. People acting like this was some great movie are way off. The premise was nice and having something in the summer that isn't about superheroes is refreshing. The cast was lame and the plot was pretty predictable. The pacing felt off as well probably because a big chunk was spent with weak characters between fight scenes (which are the highlight of the movie). I suppose I'd give a sequel when it comes on Netflix or some other streaming service. I wouldn't pay the movie ticket price and deal with all the hassle to watch a sequel, however.

2 RepliesIncredibly fun flick. Sadly the vast majority won't appreciate the fact that GLaDOS was in a movie about Portals.
-
there were anime references?
-
It was freaking amazing! Watched it twice!
-
2 RepliesYou turned into an anime girl when you saw it?
-
it was good. i wanted more fights :)

Wonderful movie. I would definitely watch it again. My number one complaint would be that
Cherno and Crimson died so early. If there were a few more Jaegers it would be okay, but they removed half of the Jaegers in the first few minutes of the first big battle.
Other than that, I was happy.

Saw it in IMAX 3D. All I have to say is that, I will buy it on blu ray when it comes out. That's an honor I reserve for movies like Star Wars, Godzilla and independence day. I bought the soundtrack and I love how some of the songs are homage to Godzilla.

Not as good as that link over there.

Really? I was going to avoid it. Still can't guarantee I'll ever get around to checking it out, though. I don't go to the drive-in often.

2 RepliesI saw it a few hours ago, which is surprising, because the last movie I saw in theaters was Inglorious Bastards (I don't see movies much). I went with a friend who really wanted to see it, and even though I generally don't bother with action movies, this one was pretty good. It was a dumb fun action movie, and it didn't have any pretensions that it was anything else, which made it easy to enjoy. After reading these posts, I'll also add that I'm not into anime at all, so I didn't get any of the references. The plot holes were minimal
(except for why a civilization capable of traveling between universes wants a planet, and why they think the best way to take it is by releasing giant monsters)
and while the incorrect technobabble was grating, there at least wasn't much of it. The one thing I thought was strange was that
it seemed like halfway through the movie Mako doesn't have anymore lines. Like she's there on screen, but she just suddenly doesn't talk anymore.
All in all, it was good for what it was and what it tried to be.

Only criticism, the above song should have been played during the scene where a young Mako is running from the Kaiju.

Dafuq is happening to that anim girl??
-
3 RepliesI thought it was god awful. I had to leave half way through to watch grown ups 2 which was also terrible.
-
3 RepliesI hated it. I disliked it a lot. I am clearly a Pacific Rim hater.

2 RepliesEdited by Goatman: 7/21/2013 11:51:34 PMMovie of the mother -blam!-ing year! Also, I missed the anime references, could you point them out for me?
-
I saw it in IMAX. Best decision I ever made.

8 RepliesEdited by Friendlystu: 7/21/2013 8:05:41 PMthe Black guys character could've been so much better if he had a better script as well as Ron perlman who eaten by a baby kaiju I'm sure everybody saw his character going out in some comedic way. + The scientists were pretty dumb for not realising that melding with a kaiju minds is a two way streak and not realising it sooner. Those are just some of the gropes I had with the movie but overall satisfying.

7 RepliesI hated the movie. While the soundtrack was phenomenal, everything else was below average (and some were far below). First off, the acting was atrocious. Most of the characters were bland and generic and by watching their first minute on-screen you could tell who they'd be and what they'd do. Second, the dialog was horrible.
Today, we are canceling the apocalypse!
... Taking a rain check? It felt like I was watching a 3-hour fan-fiction about gigantic dinosaurs that come out of the water. Even the action (which was probably the movie's strongest point, aside from the score) was sub-par. Most of the fights felt slow. I know this is due to the Jagger's immense size, but that doesn't mean it makes it any more interesting. Overall, I give the movie a 5.5/10. Fantastic soundtrack, but with shitty dialog and worse acting, I'm surprised so many people went to see this.
