I'm 16 and after 2 years of hard and shit work as a dishwasher they decided to start training me to be a cook this year.
I make $12 an hour now and I work about 38 hours a week. I get payed Bi-weekly and my paychecks average out to about $700.
Some would say for one who is 16 that's impressive. Unfortunately though It's a seasonal job, I'll get the odd shift off season (September - May).
But the training will be worth it, I have more job opportunities now.

For 16, you're doing pretty well. My first job ten years ago was sweeping floors and stuff like that a poultry processing plant for $6.50 an hour. The first job or two people get usually aren't all that glamorous, but $12 an hour will get you off to a good start if you use it wisely.

Depends where you live, though.
