Here is essay: LoL is a poorly made game. The driving force behind it is money. Riot games is a shady company(http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/1hyk77/so_i_was_sorting_some_old_emails/caz8uv4.) The game itself was a rip off of the popular DotA mod for WC3. LoL is a bad game. One thing about many games in today’s F2P market, is one can pay extra to advance at a faster rate than others. This is not absent in LoL, it can be in fact a deciding factor in matches. New champions are churned out at an alarming rate, reducing originality. There are also cosmetic items that don’t affect gameplay in any way, that fetch prices of up to 25 dollars. Riot bought out former DotA community members (see: Pendragon) Marketing was also used in attempt to put competitors out of the business as opposed to showing others what Riot did (http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/8025/copyofdsc01117.jpg). Parent Company Tencent spread lies about the price of Dota 2 (free to play) (http://dotaland.net/2012/12/09/tencent-posts-an-article-on-qq-com-flaming-dota2-quickly-removes-it-but-not-before-dota-uuu9-com-posts-a-counter-flame/).Riot tried to file a trademark for DotA in order to prevent Valve from using it. (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/19/riot-games-counter-files-for-dota-trademark/). Riot’s bad side continues to show in the world of E-sports. They bought out Dreamhack. They also have exclusivity agreements and went so far as to attempt to ban LoL teams from Riot sposored events if they had a team in a LoL competitor (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=366477) Now onto gameplay. Champions in LoL follow many cookie cutter designs. There is little punishment for being bad (free back to base TP.) There is no inherent punishment for death. Gaining map control isn’t awarded well, because of the amount of passive gold that is gained. LoL is a poorly made game made by a true shitlord of a gaming company. Most of what Riot does is for money, not for fans, and constantly pisses off everyone. LoL is a cookie cutter DotA style game, and does not deserve the attention it gets.

 • You take the time to write all of this about a game you do't like as if it will change the minds of those who play it. You are a kind gentleman and a unicorn. Let me write an essay citing sources about that and I am sure it will convince you that you are indeed a unicorn.

 •
LoL is a poorly made game. The driving force behind it is money.
Ultimately the same with all games, yes.
One thing about many games in today’s F2P market, is one can pay extra to advance at a faster rate than others. This is not absent in LoL, it can be in fact a deciding factor in matches.
As long as you can play enough champions to cover the major positions, you should be able to functions well and enjoy the game. League does have problems easing new players into the game because there is a lack of support for them in terms of helping them to figure out what champion would best suit them, but once you get over that bump it really isn't that bad. I've never felt like I've lost a game simply because I didn't own Champion X Y or Z. League is hardly pay to win.
There are also cosmetic items that don’t affect gameplay in any way, that fetch prices of up to 25 dollars.
Cosmetics for money you say? Not sure how that makes Riot a bad company; free to play games need to pay for themselves somehow, and honestly optional cosmetics is a much better solution than ads or other ways to monetize to game.
New champions are churned out at an alarming rate, reducing originality.
Actually as of this year they've severely cut back on the rate at which they release new champions. So far they've only released five this year, with a sixth announced champion that presumably coming out later this month or early August. Rather, they've shifted a lot of their resources towards updating older champions that don't meet current levels of quality in terms of gameplay and aesthetics. There's at least five reworks that they've done this year alone off the top of my head (one example pictured above of one of the oldest champions in the game, Annie), not to mention numeorus more refactoring jobs to tweak trouble champs and plenty more reworks in the pipeline that are talked of publicly on the forums by Riot Employees from time to time (like this 568 page thread seeking opinions from the fanbase on reworking a specific champion). I should mention that all of these updates are completely free of charge despite the amount of work that goes into updating them and all of their skins. The allegations against riot and their parent company are a little upsetting, but the designers and the artists that post on the forum are some of the most transparent and honest people I've ever seen. They regularly pull back the curtain to reveal the inner workings of the game's development, discussing why changes were made, soliciting ideas from the fanbase, and debating game design in general. I'm not sure that I can disown those people simply because their buisnessy overlords are trying to be buisnessy overlords.
There is little punishment for being bad (free back to base TP.) There is no inherent punishment for death.
Aside from the farm that you miss out on and a general loss of map control and numerous other things, yes. You can very easily lose a game for your entire team if you die too much, it's happened to me and other team mates countless times, and it happens in Professional E-Sports as well.
Gaining map control isn’t awarded well, because of the amount of passive gold that is gained.
The current metagame is all about map control. The teams that are currently dominating are the ones that are super good at winning their lanes so hard that they are the first team to take the tower, and then they cycle over to completely controlling the objectives and shutting down other lanes. League certainly isn't perfect, and I definitely think it shouldn't be the only Moba on the market, but it really isn't as bad as you are making it out to be.

 • you didn't address most of my post, and the things Riot did are more than just a little upsetting. The cosmetics are not the only way riot monetized their game, as you tried to deflect. Map control is awarded, but not as well as in other DotA style games, because of the large amount of passive gold given.

 • If anything most oft those points I conceded to are more of an argument for Riot being a bad company (at least on a buisness side of things), not for League being a bad game. Also, I never tried to deflect anything. They do sell champions, but as I testified the abillity to quickly acquire those champions using real money doesn't give you a huge advantage, it still ultimately comes down to whether or not you can play the champions you own. Even professional players only have a pool of four to six champions that they routinely rely on, the fact that they own the other 100 or so of them is inconsequetial because most of them aren't applicable to their role and they aren't applicable to their team's main strategies. As for your latter point, are you saying that because of the gold you passively gain every second, it's easier for teams who are behind to stay in the game?
