Edited by Diplomat: 7/8/2013 4:54:25 AMIt's basically a recommendation by a national organization to obtain college credit for doing well on a test. Your number score represents how well you did, and is based on a 1 to 5 scale (1 being the lowest, 5 being the highest). If you have a three or higher, you are eligible to receive college credit. Most community and state colleges will give you credit for having a 3 or above, but some more selective schools require you to a 4 or higher (Ivy Leagues often don't give college credit, regardless of score). There a variety of AP Tests ranging from American History to Calculus. Generally, you take a class to prepare you for the test. It's really nice, because it's less credit you have to pay for/earn when you graduate and go to Uni.
