Give me opacity sliders and I'll be satisfied.
A million times this. As someone who's running stuff on a plasma set, opacity options in any game are a real delight. I'd hate to have the ammo counter burn-in to the TV after a long sitting. And to be honest, I rather give the art all my attention over the on screen information in most cases.
But the key really is customization. Be it setting the margins for those who have to deal with overscan or scale for those who run the game on a small screen. Changing the positioning of certain HUD elements would certainly be welcome in the long haul, too - from a perspective of a long time WoW player.
Still, the small glimpses of the HUD in the latest videos show it to be on the right track in my opinion. I really appreciate the cleanliness of it.
