Every time a thread like this comes around it's just a mindless circle-jerk of anti-theism. It's no better then /r/atheism.

Edited by Ric_Adbur: 7/14/2013 5:42:13 AMEvery time a thread like this comes along, instead of acknowledging any wrongdoing on the part of the religious person or institution which the thread is discussing - no matter how obviously indefensible and/or undeniable the actions being questioned are - you instead throw around accusations at anyone in the thread who expresses any kind of negative opinions toward said religious person or institution. Moreover, your accusations are hollow and are never backed up with anything more than anecdotal observations and/or vaguely undefined absolutist morals. Since you refuse to discuss the topics brought up, and you don't have much to say about the people who frequent this group and it's discussions that isn't negative, one is forced to wonder what it is you get out of what can only loosely be called your "participation" here, and why it is you continue to come here at all.

Edited by Entraps: 7/14/2013 6:52:16 AM
you instead throw around accusations at anyone in the thread who expresses any kind of negative opinions toward said religious person or institution.
No, I direct accusations at the people who make absurd blanket statements, like "it is immoral to be Catholic" or "the Catholic Church is the worst criminal organization in the world", founded on the actions of a single corrupt bishop, who does not represent the entirety of the Church in any sense. As for why I come here, I like many of the users that post here, and I enjoy the scientific / news topics.
-
Do you have anything to say that is on the topic, perhaps directly referencing the moving of money so children inappropriately fiddled by the catholic church won't receive restitution? Is your perceived circle jerk of those rightly offended at the catholic church trying to have its cake (kiddie fiddling) and eating it too (protecting kiddie fiddlers and its money)?
-
Edited by Fat Tony: 7/8/2013 7:44:25 AMOr, it's a thread where some religious folk attempt to justify the atrocities of perhaps the worst organisation on the planet by stating that it has "done more good". ...yeah I like that better.
-
worst organisation
I didn't realize we were talking about AIPEC.
-
Don't like the fact that people are pointing out that even more evidence to the notion that the Vatican protects these monsters isn't surprising? Then don't blindly follow the church.
-
Not anymore...

He'll will blindly follow whatever he wants. He's repeatedly defended these rapist papists. He's a deranged, indoctrinated mad(maxepic) man.

Says the kiddy--blam!-er lover.
-
so critiqing (christ i cannot spell) the church is anti-theistic?
-
No, but nobody ITT is critiquing the Church, it's more like circle jerking and mindless hatred, which I already said.

Edited by Eternal Way: 7/8/2013 5:32:41 PMWhat facet of the Church's activities need to be critiqued in a resigned manner or demonstrated as unethical? Do we need to establish that housing rapists and pedophiles is immoral? That committing racial, cultural, and intellectual genocide is deserving of the utmost obloquy? That spreading blatant lies about sex and openly advocating the suppression of women's rights (and other issues intertwined therewith) is reprehensible and abominable? Such examples only serve to prove that the Church is two millennia beyond the kind of rebuke you envision (which undoubtedly entails supplications that do not offend your primitive sensibilities). The organization and its followers must be aggressively denounced and discredited and shown to be the depraved human beings they are until their beliefs are revised or, failing that (as will most likely happen), are expunged.
-
you seem to be confusing hatred with critique.
-
Christians and Muslims are the most evil, barbaric, and primitive people to have ever inhabited the planet.

Yeah. I am of the opinion that it is unethical to be a member of the Catholic Church.
Does that look like criticism to you? Yeah, no, it's circle-jerk hatred.
-
You honestly haven't figured out EW is screwing with you?
Yeah. I am of the opinion that it is unethical to be a member of the Catholic Church.
How is this circle-jerking hatred? How about you counter the accusation? Perhaps the guy has decent reasoning behind that statement?
-
I'm screwing with him? Hardly. I'm sure it is self evident that Madmax is an apologist for pedophiles and rapists and, to a larger extent, the organization responsible for sheltering such excrement.
-
I figured out EW was screwing with me a long time ago; that doesn't make it not offensive.
-
I'm happy that you're offended. I wish nothing but death and destruction upon your filthy cult.
-
well eternal is an asshat, you shouldn't be expecting anything from him. the second one however, given some small exposition is not circlejerking.
-
There is no exposition that can justify either of these quotes.

Edited by Eternal Way: 7/8/2013 5:12:36 PMBecause you are a Christian and therefore, are incapable of comprehending the most rudimentary basics of logical argumentation. The statement "it is unethical to be a member of the Catholic church" is indeed a demonstrable proposition. If one so wishes, they need only cite at least you to vindicate their argument.
-
well I already addressed the first one, but a great deal of argument can and has been made over whether the catholic church is a good organization or not. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQHxkX-tyYU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3766TOukRo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfJdHRzhHQo

Nothing that comes out of Hitchens's mouth is worth a dime. He's a hateful lying asshat.
